Which Amp?
Question: I have been looking at some tube amps about 30 watts. My question is which amp you think would be better for my situation. I have been offered a great price of $540.00 for a Peavey Delta Blues 2X10 and have been looking at a Peavey Classic 30 which has one 12 inch speaker at regular price of $519.00. I would be using this amp with my Fender Custom Telecaster (Spec. Limited Ed.) I would use it at church of course with an attentuator and play rock to praise and worship. The thing that I see in the Delta Blues is that if I later decide to go to any bigger situations it has a Extension cab jack. Answer: The peavey doesn't have any type of extension jack at all? That's pretty surprising. I doubt you'll want one anyways. I mic'ed 1x12" configuration is ideal for what you're playing. I voted for the classic 30 because I don't think the Delta Blues will do rock as well. I tried one out a few times, spending about 30 mins each time and just could not get a good rock sound out of the amp itself. If you're into pedals, that could be something different though. As far as prices, I would definitely go used. You'll get the same amp much cheaper. I suggest browsing the classifieds section of www.harmony-central.com or ebay. Answer: i voted classic 30, that being said, if you go used you can find them for upwards of $200 cheaper. In the sub-$500 range there's a few decent tube amps (used) from Fender, Peavey and Traynor. Answer: I'd say Classic 30. The mod for an extension cabinet jack is very simple, as long as you don't run the amp with no speaker attatched (BIG nono) Answer: I voted Other - i.e., Traynor! I'm actually using it (YCV40) more than my '69 Bandmaster Reverb. Answer: I was looking at the Traynor Amps and I was wondering what the distortion/overdrive sounds like and the overall sound of it. A 15w would be better in my situation than a 30w. Answer: I really like the Delta Blues, but that price seems a little high (or at least more that I would pay). I havn't tried the 2x10" version, but the 15" version is very nice. It has tremolo, which is something the other amps don't have. And yea the tremelo is nice. Answer: I've been playing the Traynor 20 for a year plus now and it's great. 15 watts are more than enough for the church setting. It allows great overdrive without attenuators, and has great clean sound. Mine has a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker and is wired for an extention cabinet. Stacked with a 2x10 cab the amp is sweet. Answer: I think I have my mind set on the Traynor YCV20WR. I have heard so much about these amps so I am guessing the are pretty good. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
