Acoustic amps
Question: k, I have my new acoustic/electric now. But I really would like an acoustic amp. I know this souonds stupid, but I was looking at the Behringer one. Its pretty big adn I know that they don't have the electric amp down very well, but I thought: I wonder how they do on acoustic amps. Has anybody tried this one r know of any other really cheap acoustic amps? (minimum 30 watts.) Answer: i don't know much about Behringer amps...but here's some general advice. 1) don't be afraid to use a keyboard amp. there's actually one in the Classifieds Forum right now...keyboard amps are going to have a pretty neutral response, which is a good thing with acoustic guitars. 2) I have seen Fender Acoustasonic Amps sell for fairly cheap used. By fairly cheap I mean the $200-$300 range. Definitely check out some used stuff. A Peavey KB-60 would probably work great too (it's a keyboard/bass/acoustic amp) Answer: If you read in Guitar: I GOT MY GUITAR!!!!, I said I got to play through a Roland Amp. (I think that it is a keyboard amp, well, on sundays we use it for keyboards) and it sounded unbelievable. I got the idea to use from our church's main guitar player whoo uses it fr his acoustic on sundays. So i guess my point is that I second that keybard amps are good. Do you think that cheaper keyboard amps will sound as good as this one? (the one i used was the one with like a million channels) Answer: Originally Posted by jamforchrist123 Do you think that cheaper keyboard amps will sound as good as this one? (the one i used was the one with like a million channels) hmm...well that's going to be according to your idea of "cheaper"...like I said, I know the Peavey KB series amps sound decent...i haven't tried too many others. Answer: Keyboard amps will work, bass amps will work, anything that reporiduces a hi-fi sound. A decent keyboard amp with enough wattage should cover you. I think your main consideration is the EQ controls you'll get on the amp. Answer: also, if you have a decent pre-amp on the guitar, and you're in a good monitoring situation, you might be better served to get a decent direct box and just run through the house.
