The Traynor certainly has more than enough gain, at least I think. Answer: Here's the email I got today! The amp is shipping out today, sorry it took me a couple of days to get it together. I tested it before packing, everything is working fine. Here is the UPS tracking # [deleted]. Check it when you get it, I packed the spare tubes in bubble wrap inside the amp. You can try these, I never got around to it but it's a set of NOS (New Old Stock)Jan Philips USA 6L6GC "short bottle" which the previous owner bought, a matched quad set from tubedepot.com and they've never been used. If you like the sound of these, you'd just need to modify the spring clips a bit to fit them. But you can try them without the clips, no problem. Since the amp is cathode-biased, you don't have to bias new tubes just plug them in. Check the reverb, I had another Traynor YCV20WR that I ordered brand new and when it arrived the reverb didn't work. The leads inside the tank had broken from shipping, I just soldered them back and it was fine. Let me know if you have any problem or question. Mark He included a quad of NOS tubes. That's awesome. My question is about what I put in italics though. Anyone know what that means? Answer: on tube amps there's generally clips that hold the tubes in place when the amp gets moved so the tubes don't fall out. you can use a tube amp without clips, but i wouldn't recommend it for too long because eventually your tubes are going to slip out.
