New to effects
Question: HI i am new here. I have a fender Deville and Fender Strotocaster. I have a band that likes to sound a lot like Relient k and some sanctus real. WHen we being playing at places i was borrowing a pedal from a friend but i now want a distoration. I think i have narrowed it down to 2 pedals A fulltone fulldrive or Fulltone Distoration pro. The first question i have do you think that the fulldrive will have enough distoration/drive on the clean channel to make me sound like the bands i like. The next question which would you take if you were in my position the Fulldrive or The Pro. Any ideas are welcomed thanks Answer: i can't really answer that one, but have you tried the proco rat II? i'm pretty sure one of the guys from relient k uses one. my boss me-50 has a COSM model of it, and it sounds really relient k, even though its only a model. Answer: is that the effect they use i will have to try one of those out. And about both those pedals they are both super good i can't see you going wrong with either one Answer: Originally Posted by wesley7777 is that the effect they use i will have to try one of those out. You've got a good guitar, a great amp, and a good idea of the kind of pedal you want. Fulltone pedals are great, as are the Proco Rat pedals. Either one would probably work good. Check the stickied thread at the top of the effects section, and you can find people who have these effects. PM them for details, or wait for them to post here. -Nick Answer: The Fulltone is too expensive in my book. I'd go with the Rat II. Answer: if a Fulltone FD2 is too pricey, look for a used Visual Sound J&H...You could probably score one on ebay in the $100 range. Don't both of the guys in Relient K use the J&H? Originally Posted by poorboy7 HI i am new here. I have a fender Deville and Fender Strotocaster Very nice choice for gear. Answer: yea that was pretty cool, i see he uses a vintage rat distoration Answer: WOW i have really read a lot about the Pro CO rat and it sounds good. I listened to it on musicians friend and like it and read all the reviews i good find. A lot of people said it was very versitle, i like that. They also said it sounds a lot like a classic rock distoration, even better. So yall think that one of these could handle Relient k and stuff like that? Thinks for all the help this could save me a lot of money. Answer: well if one of the rK guys uses it... Answer: Between those Fulltone pedals, definitely go with the FD2. It has a lot more tonal variations and will give you a wide range of overdrives to choose from. The diestortion pro doesn't really give the hard, crunchy type of distortion. It's a bit smoother, but still rougher than the FD2. You can get the FD2 to be a pretty rough, but it doesn't justify the distortion pro. The pro-co rat gives a much hotter distortion and you've gotta choose from there! Switchfoot uses a FD2 and they sound pretty heavy. Your deville (hot rod?) should also have some pretty good distortion as well. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
