Effects line

Question:
I now have my guitar, EQ, compressor (coming tommorow) and possibly a smooth OD pedal for Christmas. What would be the right order to put them in? I was thinking:
Guitar > EQ > OD (optional) > Compressor > Amp
What's everyone else think?
Answer:
i'm still a guitar noob, but my sound tech side tells me to put the eq later, that way it can be used to trim out any unwanted side effects.

I have my EQ last in my chain. It lets me cut out any hum if that's the case, and it just all around makes my distortion sound fuller. But really, try every combination possible, see what sounds best to you personally.
Answer:
I'm not using my EQ for trimming, but for altering the sound. As of now, since I don't have an OD pedal, this is what I'll do:
Guitar -> Compressor -> EQ -> Amp
Answer:
i was reading something online about how to order your pedals. this guy was saying he would put guitar--od--eq--od and get a really great tone from using an eq before and after your overdrive pedal.
Answer:
If you get and OD, you'll probably want to put it post compressor, (at least that's were I like it) if you set your comp. with a little bit of boost then when you switch it on, in combination with the OD, it will give you more drive for when you need it. If your OD is before your compressor and you want a volume boost when you switch on your OD then the compressor will 'squash' the volume boost, so I generally like the OD post comp.
Answer:
Well, I'm using the compressor primarely for the sustain - So, maybe the compressor could go 2nd to last to compress the signal, then run through the EQ to clean up, then through the amp.
