Pulling a tube
Question: I heard that I can make my Hot Rod Deluxe work harder at lower volumes by removing a tube. Is this true? -Nick Answer: Originally Posted by Only Alive I heard that I can make my Hot Rod Deluxe work harder at lower volumes by removing a tube. Is this true? -Nick no...but pulling a tube will efficiently make your amp not work at all. the two tubes on the HR Deluxe operate in a "push/pull" manner...where one tube "pushes" the signal while the other "pulls"...without both tubes you're screwed. however in some four-tube configurations you have two "pull" tubes and two "push" tubes, so you can remove a complementing pair (one "pull", one "push") to get the effect you were told about. Doesn't this change the impedance as well?
