FS: Beautiful Black SG Copy
Question: I thought I would post this for a week or so before I put it up on ebay. This is a Samick Artist Series SG copy, very close to the original Gibson, the headstock is just a bit different. These are about the same thing as an Epiphone G400, probaly from the same factory, too. It is in very close to new condition: Excellent set up - nut slots tweaked, string height adjusted, intonation set. Its string height is as low as any guitar out there. In this category, I would have to say it is better than new. The neck is very much like SG's - the kind players rave about, using terms like "fast neck", etc. Upgrades - It has slightly hotter than stock pickups, a better than stock brass replacement bridge, the cheapie selector switch has been replaced with an open-blade selector switch. The controls have been cleaned and everything works great. It did have a pro headstock repair (see pic), it is a beautiful job, and you would never know by looking at it. One thing I also did was add a small volute to strengthen that weak area - arguably better than new. It is a primo guitar, better than new in many ways. Solid mahogany neck and body like the original, nice rosewood fretboard. Frets have very little wear. It weighs in at a very SG-like 6 lb. 4 oz. There are a couple small dings in the back, and some very minor pick-type scratches, but all in all from a couple feet away it looks like brand new. Tone - sweet as cherry pie. Nice sustain all the way up the neck, with a little more pop to the note's attack than some heavier mahog guitars, like the thicker bodied Les Pauls. Very full, fat and "toneful", sounds like a much more expensive guitar. I also attached a couple quickie sound bytes (1 = neck p.u., 1 = bridge) the recorded tone ain't great (J Station), but it can give you an idea of what the guitar sounds like. It does not come with a case or gig bag, but I am an excellent packer this thing will be packed well enough to drop off the back of a truck. If it were a little heavier, I would keep it - I just can't play featherwieght guitars very well. I will sell it for $260.00 including shipping to the lower 48 states, Canada or elsewhere may be a bit more on the shipping. Answer: Has this been sold yet? I could possibly interested in buying it. I want to get some more research done before I make a decision. Could you also be a bit more specific on how this will be shipped? I'm kind of weary imagining it bouncing around Answer: Originally Posted by Drudge Has this been sold yet? I could possibly interested in buying it. It would be packed extremely well, much better than a new one from the factory - wrapped in bubble wrap, with the head neck joint isolated from stress, extra cardboard. If I know how to do anything, I know how to pack something well - I've had many years of experience with that in my working life. The last 2 guitars I shipped had 6 and 8 pounds of carton and packing materials. Answer: I took my car in for emissions testing....what does this have to do with the guitar you may ask?....I need to get a few things fixed which has taken all guitar $$$ and diverted those funds into the endless money pit known as my car.
