Squier amp, 10 watts or 30?
Question: I have a little Squier sidekick amp. It looks like a 10 watt amp, but on the back it says it has 28 watts (120 volts). How powerful is my little amp? Thanks, -Nick Answer: what size is the speaker.that can help knowing what it is alot. Answer: Originally Posted by nickpayne90 I have a little Squier sidekick amp. Thanks, -Nick i did a quick google search, and the sidekick amp is a 10 watt amp (unless there are multiple versions of it). the 28 watt rating next to the 120v would indicate how much power the entire amp is consuming; however, the amp is only outputting 10 watts to the speaker. hope that helps. Answer: I have one of those. They're pretty nifty. It's ten watts and one 5" speaker. Hold on to it. It'll last. Answer: Once you get a tube amp, I don't see the need for the Squier. Answer: A cheap solid state amplifier. Aka, a veritile monitor/cd amplifier/5" seaker for parts/ knobs... It's useful. But then again, I never through anything away. Answer: Again, like it's been said, it's a 10 watter. I use my cheapy solid state practice amp, still. I just toss it around and use it around the house and stuff. Answer: Exactly. Answer: Well you can count on two ways to kill your ears. Huge stacks, and solid state amps. Answer: Originally Posted by smashing guitar Well you can count on two ways to kill your ears. SS amps arn't inherantly bad. there are applications for transistors. i'm positive that there are SS amps out there with better tone than some tube amps. Answer: Crate built a tube amp a few years ago that had a lot in common with a Vox AC15 - including and especially poor heat release. I saw one at a pawn shop when I was shopping for amps one time. It was non-functional (as are many pawn shop amps, but that doesn't often stop me if I can find the problem easily enough), so I couldn't listen to it. Also appeared to be very difficult to work on (another reason I didn't buy it). I just wish I could have listened to it, but the thing looked like an AC15, IIRC.
