disconnecting spring reverb?

Question:
I need to unhook my amp's spring reverb (peavey classic 30) because it is rattling and making a horendous sound every time i play a C# note (see the thread "my amp sounds like darth vader"). I studied the amp very carefully and that's the only thing it could be.
Answer:
Are you planning to re-mount it somewhere else or are you just wanting to get rid of the spring reverb unit altogether?

Answer:
i'm thinking i'll just ditch it because i don't really use it. my friend unhooked his, but i don't really want him playing with my amp lol.
Answer:
Most spring reverb tanks on a combo amp are just screwed into the cabinet, usually on the floor of the cabinet. What I might do first (before I start disconnecting wires) would be to finda sheet of packing foam (a lot of electronics companies ship their products wrapped in the stuff) and cut a square to match the size of the reverb tank. Then, unscrew the tank, place the sheet of foam underneath, and re-attach the tank. That would probably have a huge damping affect on the vibration. If you want to get rid of the tank altogether, that just involves disconnecting/cutting/desoldering some wires, I suppose, in addition to removing the tank from the cabinet.
But that would take a feature away from your amp that you might want to use someday when your musical tastes change (which might happen, you never know...)
