Well mostly any pedal can be used for punk(except for heavy metal distortoins) id go with the Boss ds-1, relient k uses the jekll and hyde pedal, its more $$ tho.

DS-1 is awesome. I like Jeckyll and Hyde better, cause its distortion and overdrive, but the DS-1 is only 40, and Jeckyll and Hyde is 110.

Yeah if i were you id look into the os-2, its got a over drive side, and a distortoin side plus its like $70. I personaly use the rat 2 pedal its got great variations.

i have the rat also and it love it. i dont play punk rock though but im sure you can get a good punk rock sound out off it. it can also go pretty heavy but i dont really like HEAVY distortion so i set mine pretty light but if thats what you want....

DS-1 is fairly bland, look for tube amp distortion for real tone. A Marshall JCM 800 or something should give you a great rock tone.

i actually got a boss ds-1 for $30. it's a great pedal. i use it for heavier tones mixed with my tubescreamer.

I usaly have a little more than half distortion, not so much filter, and whatever volume i need it to be. what are your settings?

Yeah the os-2 always worked for me when i needed distortion like that...
