Who fixes pedals ?
Question: just as the title reads. I've got an Holy Grail reverb that's lost its holiness and doesn't work... I press the footswitch and it doesnt turn on. So i'm in nj and if anyone has any idea on how to get it fixed and a guesstiamte on cost ? I'd like to know thanks and goodmorning Answer: I'll be the stupid one and ask...did you try changing the battery? Answer: ofcourse I didn't try changing the battery.....it doesn't use a battery it plugs into a wall Answer: even so, try running it on a battery (if it will...my Crybaby doesn't like batteries for some reason). sometimes changing the power source will oddly fix the problem (like if your adapter is somehow busted.) Answer: there is no place for me to put batteries in my pedal.... Answer: Strange.... Answer: indeed it is very strange.....i mean batteries go in a battery place and on the pedal there was no convient place to put the batteries unless ofcourse i unscrew the top of the pedal where all the " delicate unmentionables are " their only delicate cause i could break t hem easily and unmentionables cause I've got no clue on their name Answer: so... can it be run by batteries? your last post was confusing. if you open it up and take a look around, there's little chance that you'll break anything. i work with electronics a bit, and most stuff is built pretty sturdy. also, there could be a loose wire on the power plug... (or similar). have you tried a different power adapter? (same voltage and polarity, of coarse) Answer: Originally Posted by tht00 so... can it be run by batteries? your last post was confusing. if you open it up and take a look around, there's little chance that you'll break anything. i work with electronics a bit, and most stuff is built pretty sturdy. also, there could be a loose wire on the power plug... Can you explain exactly what's happening? Are you getting NO sound when it's switched on? Clean but no reverb (or vica versa)? Noise but no signal? Really low level signal? If it sounds like something I could easily fix, I'd be happy do to it for free + shipping (i'm in OH). Or if you're not afraid of a soldering iron, or know someone you trust with an iron, I might be able to walk you through fixing it from here. Answer: it can't be run on batteries... I plug it in and can play through it but when i hit the pedal...no reverb its still clean. Answer: alright then. are you still getting sound on both 'channels', but just no reverb when there is supposed to be? one possibility would be a bad connection to the pots (controls). that would probably do it. Answer: I was looking for a schematic but couldn't find one anywhere. But yeah, a bad connection on the pot could be the problem. It definately sounds like a signal routing problem somewhere. In otherwords something probably just needs to be re-soldered whether it's a wire or a component on the board. Components rarely go bad (except for some parts which do after a really long time). Pots and switches do wear out, but if you're getting absolutely no reverb and no added noise, then that's probably not the case. If you're not deathly afraid of doing so, I'd suggest opening it up and looking for any obvious problems like wires not connected to anything at one end. Oh, btw.... if it's still under warranty, you should definately take it to the store where you got it before you try do to anything else with it... if anyone who's not certified to work on EH stuff messes with it, it could void the warranty, and if it's not fixable, you don't want to do that, just on the chance that they might replace it for free.
