Question
Question: Can you use a head on just a regular amp and it still sound good??????? Example, i have a 4 10 bass man and i wanted to get a marshal gead. Would i have to get a cab to sound good or can i just get a good sound out of my amp with it????? Answer: Your combo is essentially a head and cab put together. Now, if you detatch the cab from the amp, you can hook it up at a marshall head, provided that the impedences of the head and cab match. It's usually simplest to get a normal head and cab, tho. Do NOT hook the speaker out on a head to an amp input. It'll damage both amps. Answer: it is a combo amp, how would take the cab off of my head? the reason i was wondering is cause im maybe looking to get a tube hea with nice overdrive to it. Just go to the back and unplug it. There should be speaker out. If it's hardwired to the amp (i.e. can't unplug it), then you'll have to cut that wire to wire it up. Answer: oh............ well i dont think i want to do that to my bassman Answer: Originally Posted by billy_brown oh............ well i dont think i want to do that to my bassman Is there a plug going from the speaker to the amp? If so you can unplug it. Answer: yes, there is. i thought there wasnt one but i guess it is. would i just plug thet chord into a head?????? Answer: Yep. But like he said, make sure the impedances match up first, or again, you'll damage something. Case Answer: Originally Posted by Casey Yep. Case i just pulled my chord out of my amp and there is no way that it will fit up to a head, what do i do??????? Answer: they have exeniton chords like that???? Answer: Originally Posted by billy_brown they have exeniton chords like that???? Yes. Around Radio Shack or some music store or somethin. Answer: Make sure it is a speaker connector cable! Using an instrument cable will cause damage because it uses a different gauge of wire. You can find these at any music store. Answer: As long as the speakers in your combo don't suck, it should sound pretty good.
