Looping?
Question: Can someone explain FX and other sorts of looping? And is there a way to use multi effects and stomp boxes? Like i just use my for single effects (patch A wah...Patch B delay.) that sort of thing? Like i know the delay goes after the rest of them, but then sometimes i have a wah, and it sounds not-so good. Answer: I'm not quite understanding your question, but an effects loop is where the preamp signal of your amp is sent out to whatever you hookup there, and you can input whatever back into the power amp of the amp. Since it goes out of your amp and come back into it, usually, it became known as the effects loop. Answer: What are some good uses for FX loops? All an effects loop is is a way to put effects after your preamp as opposed to before it. This is good especially if you use your amp's distortion and you have an effect like delay. This way, you delay the distortion, not distort the delay. What you are referring to is a true bypass loop. A true bypass loop allows you to completely take your pedals out of your signal path and go straight to your amp. Answer: actually with some amps you can turn the effects loop on and off with a footswitch. when the effects loop is on the signal runs through it, and when it's off it's not running through it. Answer: *Proces'* Hmmph. So let's say I have stompboxes and a multi effects pedal... Where should i put the multi effect? (Im not planing on have my multi FX forver, just for now) Answer: well hmm... i think it's hard to say because i'd answer based on whether or not you're using it mainly for time/pitch modulation or amplitude/gain modulation. Answer: I use three sepreat patches(A is a wah, B is a trem, and C is a delay) Note I made it so it is only one thing per patch as to keep my sound as clean as posible. Ah, that is true. I didn't think about that. Not all amps have that though, so dont count on it. Just put your multi in front of your amp and dont worry about it. Answer: Basically, if you use your amps distortion, anything you put in the effects loop will effect the distortion, and anything you put between the guitar and the amp will come before the distortion. Answer: Here's the problem with what you're trying to do. Wah usually sounds best when it's before distortion. Delay and tremelo typically sound better after distortion. It would be great if you could just insert the distortion in the middle of your multi-fx processor, but you can't (unless you use the processor distortion). So whether you use stompbox distortion or amp distortion, stiking this thing in an effects loop, you cannot put it in a position that gives you optimal sound with all three effects. I would put the multifx after the distortion and sacrifice the wah. But you may want to do things differently. btw, what multi effects processor are you using?
