Amp Tone

Question:
I have a Fender Ultimate Chorus and it is used and I think it is around 10 years old. Well I have been having this problem since I have had it, over a year now. The tone on the Clean channel is not working correctly. The bass somehow changes the volume a little when turned up and down, and doesn't add any bass. And the Treble and Mid seem to not have much tone. The Distortion Channel work well, and seem to working fine. Anyway, what I am asking, does anybody know what could be wrong with it? Anybody dealt with this before, or have this amp?

hmm... not familiar with the amp. solid state, right? sounds to me like either some wires came loose... or maybe a component in the tone circuit failed... definitly sounds like something wrong with the clean tone circuit... and that would explain why the OD works (different tone controls, right?).
umm... if the amp is hand wired, it shouldn't be to hard to fix. if everything is mounted on circuit boards, then there is probably nothing you can do about it. you'd probably have to send it in.
just some ideas... i'm really not familiar with that amp.
Answer:
Ya it is SS, 65 watt, 12 inch, I think.
Answer:
On SS amps I always suspect the moving parts before anything else. Squirting some contact-cleaner into all the pots can have a huge effect for little time or expense... if still no joy, check around the tone-control components for bad solder joints.
best wishes

hmm...the Fender Ultimate Chorus (at least the common version) is a 130 watt 2x12" solid state combo.
just for a reference what kind of guitar do you use with it...have you tried it with another guitar and gotten the same problematic result?

Ya, its not the guitar, haha. I use a Esp ltd 100qm(or 1000qm, I don't wanna get up and look). I would use the drive channel, but Fender just doesn't have good overdrive, so I am stuck with I got, which sounds better than the drive channel, but with like no bass.

Fender has good drive channels. Check out the Hot Rod Deluxe. It's just under 600 bucks, but save your pennies up.[/tube snob]

actually you can score those in the sub $500 range pretty easily. Mine was $405 with shipping (hooray for eBay)...and yes...the overdrive is decent. OVERDRIVE...there isn't really a heavy distortion on it.

Fender may have good drives, but mine is for chorus and more of a clean sounding amp. I don't like the drive channel.
Answer:
have any of you ever heard of the Fender Prosonic? It's not in production any more, but it's a triple rectifier(Switchable like mesas), that gets that fender clean and mesa dirties. Sounds like a dream. I've seen them for as low as $550 some places. There's a huge cult follwing for them and they're pretty rare since they're no longer in production. I'm getting a new job that should be a pretty big pay raise, and as soon as I get the money, I don't think I'd have any problem buying one of these "sight-unheard."

405 eh? I got mine hardly used off ebay for 360.00. I win!
I really like the drive on it too, great for some lite - medium drive for blues / classic rock type of stuff.

Answer:
the Prosonic is supposed to be Fender's hi-gain wonder child. i've never played through one though.
nick, was that $360 inc. shipping? i know occassionally they do drop that low, however at the time when i bought mine it was a stellar grab.
