Danelectro Fab Overdrive [merged]
Question: What do you guys think about danelectro pedals? I just ordered The Danelectro Fab Distortion and it should be here in a few days...I've played a few of the higher end Danelectro pedals and enjoyed them so assume this one will be lovely as well! Discuss! Answer: Originally Posted by Opie What do you guys think about danelectro pedals? Discuss! From what I've heard, some of the Danelectros are very good (especially the delay and the EQ). They're not top of the line, but they do their job quite well. -Nick Answer: I've played a few of the Danelectro minis, and I wasn't extremely impressed by any of them. I own the Grilled Cheese distortion (which was a mistake in my opinion), and I tried the Corn Beef flanger (I think that's what it was, I can't remember), Fish and Chips EQ, and one more which I can't remember. I tried all of these at my local guitar store, and the only one that I liked even a little was the EQ, but still not enough to buy it. That's just my personal opinion though. Whatever floats your boat I suppose... Answer: from what i hear they sound good but if you like to turn them on and off frequently the plastic will brake from the stompage Answer: Originally Posted by Opie What do you guys think about danelectro pedals? Discuss! are you talking about the new fab series pedals? i've not heard any reviews on them yet, but for $20 you can't really go wrong. the most common problem i see that people have with Dano minis is that they don't realize that these pedals are basically one (at the most two) trick ponies. the Grilled Cheese Distortion is a ridiculously hi-gain distortion with a EQ filter/boost (think distortion with a wah knob)...it's really great at creating large amounts of sonic noise...and very little else. over at guitar geek the topic of dano pedals comes up occasionally and it seems the general consensus is that they're decent...the primary weakness is the casing isn't always strong enough for frequent gigging. i'm a pretty big proponent of the pedals on this forum because i think that every effect has it's use in music, but pedals will not be useful to every player. Answer: i think brad avery from third day has the danelectro tremolo pedal, so it's probably pretty good. Answer: I know from experience that the Dan-Echo is a great pedal. I still get use out of it, even alongside my DL-4 Answer: I have the Grilled Cheese and the Hash Browns. The GC is very, very, very trebly. The Hash Browns isn't a bad pedal. It's a tad more than decent though. I like it for some things, though. My biggest complaint is that it has not durability. But it has some warmth to it. I'd rather just get a new casing for it then to buy another stomp-box for 90 bucks. Answer: Originally Posted by Mattlock I have the Grilled Cheese and the Hash Browns. I think he's got the daddy O, fab something, cool cat, and some fuzz thing. + the tune o matic one. They sound amazing and he's pretty stoked on em so yeah I think they're sweet! Answer: I just got it in yesterday and found that I had a short in one of my cords so I rushed into town and bought a new cord today and I'm all set up and I love the pedal...it's plastic seems like it would chip or break easily but thats the only issue...the tone and sound is wonderful! Definately recomnd! Answer: Ya, i have the fab tone too. i got it at a pawn shop for 20 bucks. I don't like it with my amp on clean, but when i put it on a light overdrive (this might only work on tube amps) and i put the fab all the way down, with the bass to the max and treble about 60% it sounds tight. Answer: Dano reverbs and delays are teh leet (aka, awesome). Overdrives and distortions suck unless you like 'noise'. But the best dano pedal...Tremolo, no doubt. Answer: OLD THREAD!! that being said, the Pastrami OD and the Fabtone are supposed to be great. that being said, OLD THREAD! Anyway, I had the DVD for Guitar World's review of the Dano Fabtones, and they didn't sound too great to me. I guess I would say that they are worth the price though.
