I've had the Line 6 DL4 for a while now and I just love the thing! But, I've heard that the expression pedal can make some groovy sounds and I was wondering if anyone had experience with it. Is the expression pedal worth getting?

I don't have a DL-4 but from what I've read, the expression pedal for the stompbox modelers is pretty flimsy. I think you can actually use an Ernie Ball passive volume pedal and use a stereo-y cable to connect it to the DL-4.
