has fender lost it's mind?

Question:
http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAM...Metalhead.html
that's right kids...550watts of solid state...something...
i mean i'm one of the few pushers of solid state technology here...but this thing just seems absurd. thank you marshall (mode four) and fender for your overbearing wattage beasts.
Answer:
That is pretty darn rediculous.
Fender's explanation: "The new Metalhead is easily our most powerful guitar amplifier, but the thing to remember is that it's about more than just volume. For many guitarists, 100 Watts is more than enough amplifier with regards to volume, and 550 Watts may seem like overkill. But what the Metalhead really offers is the headroom to deliver the aggressive low-end response you can't get with a lower powered amplifier."

Answer:
I'm gonna try one of these things out. I can't get my friends 140 watt Fender to go to 1, I wanna see how low I have to put this thing on.
Answer:
oh my word. rediculous. stupid. I'm ashamed. and it only figures that it caters to metal, the internation music of idoitism.
Answer:
*Drool*
But man, what a waste of money.
Answer:
my 200 watt is ridiculously loud. I like metal, but that beast requires earplugs on 4.
Answer:
Those dials had better go to 11
Answer:
I think bass players are the only ones who really need to be concerned about headroom. A guitar amp can only go up so far before being way too loud, and adding more wattage will only lower that point where it's too much. When your amp is only on 3 I think you've got PLENTY of headroom.
Answer:
My Marshall 100 Watt heads are more than enough for me on most occasions!

Answer:
one of the interesting things abought the MH is that the cab is only designed to handle 400watts...which means that the speaker will begin to add their own harmonics long before you reach the maximum rating of the amplifier. i think that Fender intentionally did that knowing that no one will ever actually consider the full 550 watts to be a usuable level, but also knowing that with a full-blown ss amp like this something had to be done to have a piercingly sharp signal...light speaker distortion takes care of that.
Answer:
Oh, but the amp does sound stupid...
Answer:
Fender.....Metalhead?......*scratches head*.
16 effects in a solid state amp?
Oh boy.Fender is gonna have a black eye from this one.
Answer:
a little part of me wants to know who's going to be silly enough to be the first to use one in a worship context.... but while one billion people still don't have access to clean water... you can fill in the rest...

that could be effective in claiming owning a guitar is just as sinful though...
