Help! Traynor YCV40 owners! 40WR or 40T
Question: I am in the market for a new amp and narrawed them down to the Traynor YCV40WR and YCV40T. I know that the 40WR has 1x12 speaker and the 40T has 2x10 speakers. Can anyone tell me which one I should get and tell me Why you bought one over the other? Thanks, Dave Answer: Good choices. I have the YCV40 (single 12") but often times wish I went for the WR because of its additional features, including the red tolex cover. I chose the single 12" because I wanted an amp that didn't weigh a ton, so 35 lbs was good for me. We all have different needs and priorities and portability was one of my primary needs. If you don't mind the heavier weight and the higher price is not a problem, go for the twin. Either way, it's a Traynor and you won't be disappointed. Did you notice any differing sonic characteristics between two? One better than the other? Answer: First off, I personally own the YCV40WR and I love it. Great sound for the price. I don't know about sonic differences between the two, but I do know that there is more of a difference between the standard and WR editions of the amps then color. The WR also has better speakers - Celestion Vintage 30s, as opposed to the standard Celestion Red Label speakers. Answer: Originally Posted by sirhacksalot Did you notice any differing sonic characteristics between two? One better than the other? No, I did not A/B the two, so I couldn't tell you what the differences are; but there will be differences due to the 2 10" speakers and different cab sizes. Thus, it will come down to your own preferences in sound. Since I can't help you here, try reading here: http://www.harmony-central.com/Guita..._Combo-01.html Very much positive ratings here. I can only attest to the quality of my Traynor which seems to be confirmed here and on other websites that I've seen. As for the guy complaining about the rattle in his amp, he must have had a bad one. From my own experience, mine fell out of the back of my van and the only result was two dinged chrome corners - the amp is very tough! Let me say that the sound of an amp crashing onto a concrete pavement is a very sickening sound! But even if it was damaged, it would have been covered by the two year warranty that covers even stupidity and accidents! It's one of the best in the business. I've also been reading great things about the YCV50Blue - see discussions in http://www.fenderforum.com/forum.html in the Miscellaneous and Non-Fender topics threads. Perhaps this one may be even better. Answer: Man, that amp sounds nice. Wish it had been around when I was looking. Don't like the color as much as the WR though. Answer: Does anyone know where I can find one online cheap? Are they in full production yet? Answer: Originally Posted by sirhacksalot Does anyone know where I can find one online cheap? Are they in full production yet? I haven't seen any yet online, but some in the Fender Forum have seen them in the stores. Answer: I talked to their CS today and she said the ycv50Blue will be released in march and its MSRP will be $40 higher than the ycv40WR. Answer: ive been looking at these amps also...and i think im just getting the YCV40 ive heard about the rattle in this amp in a forum but i couldnt find out...what is the thing that rattles? and whats better 1-12" speaker or 2-10" (or is there really no difference) Answer: I haven't had the problem myself, but i've read that it is just that the various parts of the chasis aren't screwed in hard enough. From what I saw, simply tightening up all the screws on the outside did the job just fine. Answer: and whats better 1-12" speaker or 2-10" (or is there really no difference) Answer: ok, thank for the info people. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
