I got a Boss CS-3
Question: I bought a Boss CS-3 at Guitar Center today. It has great sustain, but I am worried about the excessive noise. Does everyone else's sustain pedals do that? Answer: try messing with the volume/compression levels...also, if your gear is inherently noisy, then that will be amplified as well. Answer: My gear isn't for sure, since the Line 6 amp has a noise gate (thank God). When I'm not playing, there is no noise, but when I put my fingers on the strings I have unwanted noise. I'll play around with it more. Answer: Originally Posted by Building429_Boy I bought a Boss CS-3 at Guitar Center today. It has great sustain, but I am worried about the excessive noise. Does everyone else's sustain pedals do that? Some of it is the compressor and you will never be able to get rid of it fully. Cheaper compressor are on the noisey side, like my mxr is noisey. I play country a lot and have mine on all the time that is why i am about to invest in a keeley but its like 200 dollars. Answer: Ok, I messed with the settings, and now it sounds great! No noise, or anything. I'm keeping it for sure. Answer: CS-3s are pretty decent compressors. That was my first pedal actually. The trick is to keep the sustain and level controls down as low as you can. The lower they are, the less noise you get. However, even with that, I got tired of the noise after a while and bought my Barber Tone Press...MUCH better. Answer: Yup, gotta turn the sustain down. That reduces the noise inherent in that pedal. If you use it strictly as a compressor you'll be very happy with it. As a sustainer it's questionable at best. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
