My Line 6 PODxt Live
Question: Amazing it is. It sounds so much better than what I was using before and now I don't have to worry too much about a stage volume issue on my part, and my church's main soundman always has some issues with certain things on the stage being loud. I won't be able to use it live until Saturday at our monthly night of worship but it will be good. Now I have time to make myself a bunch of patches to use. Pros: There are actually some stock presets that are useful. Conveniency, this thing really helps with the whole limited space issue. Now I have everything that I need except right in one box. Sound quality is amazing. On one of the models, it the tone really does clean up a bit as you turn the volume down on the guitar. Cons: No gig bag with it, but I'll have one soon. LCD screen is kind of small. And the tap tembo button is a little too close to the volume pedal but that's fine with me. My rig is completely renovated, sort of. Now I'm planning on picking up myself a Schecter C-1 Classic. Then it will be completely renovated. Answer: Wow, I'm very jealous. Give us an update after you use it live! -Nick Answer: Will do. Answer: awesome.. while i am currently using my POD2.0, i am planning on getting XT and the short board. Why not the live? I have always hated big floor units like that, i would use the XT on my desk for recording, and would hate to have that big ol thing to lug around. Solution to the small screen, the pod XT goes on a mic stand, i can still read it and play! But congrats on going the modeling route, it will sound great for you! (is it true they have a pumpkin patch preset, using JCM800 and big muff pi?) *anathema* Answer: I did not notice a preset with a JCM800 and a big muff pi. I can probably make one and then see how it sounds though. By the way, sweep echo is the coolest thing ever. And then there are the reverbs. OMGOMGOMGOMG, it's really easy to get that sigur ros sound with this thing. I love the Matchless DC-30 model for cleans because it stays clean with more drive than you can do with a Vox AC-30 model. So many great things about this pedal. And the chassis is all metal. The footswitches are a very tough plastic and are actually quite sensitive so you don't have to press down really hard to change a preset and such. Answer: and I love it. It took me a while to learn how to use it, but now that I've finally figured it out, it sounds great. I forgot to set the "what are you connecting to" to studio direct the first time at church (we plug into the board directly), leaving it on amp and it sounded awful - very distorted. I DO see a pumpkin patch preset on mine - and it does sound cool (smasking pumpkins tones). anyone buy one of the model packs? If yes, which one and how do you like it (them)? later, Scott Answer: I have the PODXT and full size floorboard, is there any difference between the live and the combination I have? Or is Line6 still just making money? Josh. Answer: actually LIVE is less expensive than a floorboard and XT. I would buy all three model packs for $99 when i get it. The metal ones (diezel, bogner etc.) with the others rock. (although i did get to play a diezel in real life... nothing like playing a $5000 head that head and munkey were using in the studio... wowza!!) *anathema* Answer: Actually, the XT Live comes pre-loaded with the fx junkie pack. I must say, I have gotten some very neat and usable Muse-like tones out of this thing. I love the clean tones on it too. So far, my favorite models would have to be Double Verb(Fender Twin), Match D-30(Matchless DC-30), Brit JCM-800, and the Solo 100(Soldano SLO-100). Answer: Originally Posted by anathema actually LIVE is less expensive than a floorboard and XT. Yeah, that was my point. I hate how companies do that. They make you slap yourself in the face. Josh. Answer: i would prefer to have the separate units, and will pay for it as well. Nothing like a big ol footboard on your desk to tweak and record, i would rather have the crazy kidney bean.. *anathema* Answer: I like the Matchless amp models too, also the Roland Jazz Chorus, the Vox and the Line 6 clean are good for clean or slightly driven tones. the Marshalls and the Fenders are good for more driven tones too. I'm awfully tempted to get the Classic model pack for it, the Gibtone sound sample on their site sounds sweet. Answer: I want to get the metal model pack so that I can get the Bogner and Deizel models. I think having them all is a good idea because it only opens up the functionality more. Answer: Time for the review of the first time using it at church. Wow, I love having this thing now. Running direct into the P.A. is so much more convenient for me than running through an amp. Plus, I just realized how noisy my old Crate is, and how lousy it sounds. I'm not using that thing again. For Sunday, I was using some very cool U2 type tones that I got from Custom Tone. I think that my church's sound techs are also happy because now stage volume is lowered a good bit. I don't have to turn up my old amp so that I can hear myself (the old amp couldn't cut through a cloud). Plus, now I have my favorite effect and that is delay. Cons: Hmmm... When I figure out what they are, I'll post them. Answer: there is seriously nothing better than happy PA guys. i'm happy for you and especially the guys working on sound. there are many fun things you can do with modulation FX. try out some phasing and tremelo together while strumming out and holding chords. very cool is there any way you can do delay on delay? that's pretty fun too. manipulating your sound with a wah/phase/flange with a nice long echo setting is very cool especially when you're strumming and shifting chords. just make sure you don't go overboard during worship :P Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
