What replacement tubes would be cool to add to my amp?
Question: Maybe naze's(spelling)? Answer: what kind of amp do you have Answer: Sovtek tubes are the best. Of course, most of the tubes you buy are Sovtek, even if they say Fender or EHX on it. Answer: JJ's are nice tubes www.eurotubes.com Answer: erm...check different brands...generally svetlana and jj/tesla seem to be very well recommended, but each company's tubes will have a different sound which may or may not be to your liking. Answer: Mullards are a great choice; they are a tad more pricey, but they are worth it because they sound great and they last longer (that does depend on the amp though). Saying Mullards are a "tad" more pricey than say, Sovteks or JJs is like saying an Escalade is a "tad" more pricey than an S-10 Blazer. Mullards are very nice tubes, but they demand a very high price in today's marketplace. I'm satisfied with the sound I get from Sovteks, JJ, and ElectroHarmonix. The only tubes I've had problems with were JJ/Tesla preamp 12AX7s. They had a rather short life for preamp tubes, every one of the 3 I've tried (all less than a year...average lifespan of a preamp tube the way I play is about 3 years). Nate Answer: I use a peavy classic thirty.Would any of the tubes make my amps distortoin better? And i think i need to replace them, cause i think my amp can sound better. Answer: what brand tubes are in your amp right now? Answer: The ones that came with it... Answer: Depends on what you would consider "better" Answer: Just overall tonewise.
