Question:
hey guys, waz up? yea im wonderin how do most music stores grade on how much money u get for ur guitar? obviously some depends on dents dings and scratches, but is their more they look for? and 1 more thing is their anything i can do to increase the value? ty very much
Answer:
other than what you mentioned: they look at the book value, and the name on the headstock has a lot to do with that.
my experience is don't expect to get more than half if even that of what you paid for it. unless you have something really special...
now i just sell on e-bay *shrug*.
Answer:
it really depends on the guitar store. In the guitar store I used to frequent it kinda depended on how smart the guy at the counter was (I won't mention the stores name their real nice people, the owner just wasn't quite "all there") I find it best to call and tell what condition the guitar is in and then ask how much they would give for it.
Answer:
but then wouldnt they ask for u to bring it in for them to make a better grading of it?

definitely. some places won't even give you an estimate over the phone. some will, but they'll tell you they have to inspect it in person obviously.
