Danelectro Black Licorice

Question:
I just got a Danelectro Black Licorice distortion pedal.....what do you guys have to say about this pedal....is it worth the $80 i paid?....will it last a while....or should i look at getting a more expensive one later down the road.....
Answer:
First off, $80, ouch. You can get one for like 40 something on musiciansfriend.
As for the pedal itself, most pedals nowadays are pretty reliable as far as working for an extended period of time. But their tone is what usually causes people to not like them/get rid of them. I've heard good thingd about the Dano Cool Cat chorus and EQ's, but most of their other stuff seems to be a little on the harsh and cheap side to me. I have a Daddy-O overdrive and its alright, but it has almost a metallic tone sometimes. If you like the sound of the Black Licorice than its a good pedal. But what will probably happen is that your taste in tone will change and you'll end up getting a new pedal. Thats what happened to me, and now I use a Jekyll & Hyde double overdrive. Much better to my ears than the Dano stuff. But like I said, your tone depends on your ear. If you like it than its probably good for you.
Answer:
I totally don't know what I was thinking, this belongs in effects, not recording.

Answer:
I just noticed he's Canadian. I was worried there for a second. I wouldn't pay 80 US for anything Danelectro.
I have a Danelectro Grilled Cheese and Hash Browns. The knobs fall of quickly, and the wiring gets messed up after a while. I don't like the sound of either effects. Well, if you can hear the Hash Browns, it sounds cool.
Answer:
ya...i'm Canadian....so $80 is more like $65ish.....but don't forget border levies and stuff....and shipping.....and it was also at a store that is known to overcharge....but it's the only music store around for about 3 hours
Answer:
$65? I still wouldn't pay that much.
Answer:
i really liked the sound when i was in the store....i guess i'll see once i have a chance to mess around with it after saturday....
Answer:
To each their own. I haven't played that, but my other two Dano pedals completley ruined the company for me.
Answer:
well....this is my first....so we'll see.....they didn't have any Metal Zone pedals in when i was there....that was too bad....i've heard a lot of good stuff about them...
Answer:
I've heard good things about them too. I personnaly wouldn't get one, though.
Answer:
I always thought crappy distortion pedals always had their place when you wanted to, well, make your guitar sound crappy. And sometimes you want a crappy tone.
Answer:
Feedback control. I wouldn't spend 65$ on feedback control though.
Answer:
are you referring to Black Licorice or Metal Zone?

I wasn't referring to anything at all, actually. Just making a semi-related comment.
Answer:
