Matt needs distortion.
Question: Matt is getting a tube amp for Christmas. Matt's amp has no distortion channel, sadly. Matt needs a good distortion by then. To give you a clue of what he's looking for, these are some of Matt's favorite bands: U2 Nirvana Switchfoot Coldplay Jimmy Eat World Copeland Radiohead. Can you please help Matt? He might be able to only spend 45 dollars. He might be able to spend more than that. But he'll probably only be able to spend 45 dollars. Matt says thank you. Answer: I'll beat everybody to it and say the Visual Sounds Jekyll and Hyde pedal. I also recommend a Tech21 NYC distortion pedal, because they are extremely versatile and have built in amp-modelers, as well as a sweet tone. EDIT: Stupid! I just went back and read $45.If that's the case, I suggest a Rocktek pedal. You can get them from Music123 and they're dirt cheap for a decently good tone. I MIGHT be able to spend the money on the Visual and Sound. You aren't an idiot. I said that I might be able to spend that much in my post. I'll check those out. Thanks! OK, I looked at the Rocktek. 20 bucks seems... I don't know. Anything else? Answer: Rat 2! Answer: what tube amp are you getting? you might just want to get an overdrive pedal to boost your signal and saturate that power section. i mean switchfoot, coldplay, jimmy eat world and copeland never get too high gain on alot of their material Answer: How about the Digitech Grunge pedal or a Marshall overdrive pedal? Answer: Originally Posted by thesteve what tube amp are you getting? you might just want to get an overdrive pedal to boost your signal and saturate that power section. i mean switchfoot, coldplay, jimmy eat world and copeland never get too high gain on alot of their material A Crate in the VC Series, I'm pretty sure. It doesn't have a distortion chanell. It was made like the very first tube amps. It has Tremelo, though. Is the TS7 any good? Answer: if you can hunt up a used fulltone pedal, i can't reccomend them enough Answer: matt is getting a nice tube amp matt needs to understand that he needs to spend more than $45 on a distortion pedal to get the best out of both things (amp and pedal). spartacus recommends: maxon ds-830 (spartacus loves the way it made his friend's fender deville sound like a stack) keeley modded boss ds-1 (same but this time it was through a bogner shiva) for those who don't have money growing out of their lawns: visual sound jekyll and hyde (flexible and great sounding as well) enough talking in third person... Answer: Are you geting the VC508? It's the one that's only 5 watts and an 8" speaker. I ask because it's the only one in the VC series that doesn't have a seperate drive channel, but it *does* have seperate gain and level controls, so you'll have distortion with it. A lot better distortion than you'll get out of any pedal in your price range, too. However, this is a really small amp so if you plan on doing any sort of playing out with it you might be left wanting a lot more. Answer: I know I should spend more than that. I need one really soon, and therefore, I can't save up. If am able to spend over 45 dollars, than screw this thread. Brent, I'm not *exactly* sure which amp it is. Let's go over what it has... The knobs are: Volume, tone, speed, intensity, and reverb. The speed and intensity are obviously for the tremelo. It's 3 years old. Hasn't been used. It's been sitting in the store for 3 years. The regular price was around 700 dollars. Bumped down to 380. 50 watts. All tube Crate. That's all I really know about it... Answer: that really sounds weird... Answer: maybe you can purchase a regular ds-1 for now and when you have more money later, you can get it modded by robertkeeley.com or mod it yourself sounds like a plan to me Answer: Originally Posted by thesteve that really sounds weird... I mean if Kurt Cobain used it, it must be good! Answer: Originally Posted by skilletswitch A Crate in the VC Series, I'm pretty sure. It doesn't have a distortion chanell. I haven't personally tried it though. And the DS-1 one can be good too, if you can eq correctly. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
