Sweet deal. What kind of guitars are they?
Answer:
What amp?
Answer:
How?
Can one of us do it?
Answer:
Well my first bass rig that wasn't a practice amp came together like that. My Sunday school teacher's brother was getting married and moving into a small-ish apartment until they could afford a new house and his bass playing in a band days were over since he was settling down. So he sends his bass rig to my Sunday school teacher's place to store it until he can find someone to buy it. My teacher knew I played bass in a band, so he mentioned it. I kind of blew it off because I didn't have a huge amount of cash and I figured with the way he described it (two big cabinets and an amp in a case...he doesn't play so he didn't know anything) that it was more than I could ever afford. So he finally gets his brother to call me and describe the stuff to me before I drive 30 minutes to his house to check it out and he tells me it's a David Eden 4x10 cabinet and an Ampeg 1x15 along with a ~10 year old 200 watt Hartke head...and he only wants *500 bucks* for the entire thing. So I'm thinking this stuff has to be majorly banged up for that price b/c the Eden cab sells for $1000 alone and the Ampeg is $375...not to mention the amp that still works just fine with only some minor hum. So I show up and the two cabinets look *brand new*...I plug in my bass that I brought along and almost wet myself listening to this stuff. SWEET. I tossed him $500 in cash from my tax refund and extra money I'd gotten from my last check and hauled it off before he could change his mind. The rig is awesome, but eventually winds up being more than I need, so I advertise that I want to trade someone the Eden cab for a 2x10 cab with cash or $650 with no trade. I end up getting a Genz-Benz 2x10 like new (which I still have and love for practicing) and $300 cash.....met the guy for the trade at Guitar Center, where I went inside after trading and bought a used Fender Jazz in new condition for $190 and a Furman Power Conditioner. So I play with this rig until this year when I got a Behringer BX3000T head for Christmas. Then I happen upon a discontinued Ampeg SVT 806HE (I think that's the number) that's eight 6.5" speakers in a cab and it's JUST the right amount of punch and loudness that I love when paired with my Behringer amp. So I trade the Ampeg 15 that I already have for that cab AND he gives me 100 bucks. The tally now? 300 watt new Behringer amp and the new Ampeg cab are my gigging rig, the old Hartke amp and 2x10 Genz Benz is my practice rig that stays at our practice space. I'm loving this.

That is sick.
Both of you guys are so lucky!
Answer:
My luck is strange, too. I found a $600 Gibson Les Paul in a newspaper that's over a week old, and it so happened that it was still for sale. My dad was negotiating it and I ended up getting it for $400. The amp, a Marshall Valvestate 8240, was from the same seller, and I ended up getting that for $200. My bass was found in Vietnam. Apparently we were near the Peavey factory, and I got a Peavey Grind bass for $175. Altogether that stuff coulda cost me a ton (around $2000 new, probably round $1200-$1500 used), but I got it all for $775.
