How do I get the sound that Trey Anastasio (Phish) has with my equip?
Question: First, my setup consists of: McCarty PRS--> Digitech RP200-->Jim dunlop wah-->Fender Deluxe. I am lacking a hollowbody guitar and a tubescreamer which are somewhat crucial to Trey's sound, but that's where I was hoping the RP200 would help. If you know any Trey Anastasio style patches for the RP200 please send them my way. With that can anyone tell me: How to achieve his clean and/or distorted tones with the setup I have. Do you know how to replicate the tubescreamer on the rp200? Possibly combined with the other tools I'm using? In general, is my setup in the best order? What should go where,as far as pedals into pedals? What amp levels should I have? bass/mid /treble/rev/drive/master control Does anyone know how to do those single string build ups that climb somewhat chromaticly, but somehow you don't hear fret noise. It sounds like an airplane speeding up as it prepares for take off. Trey does it as a build for the peak of their jams and for leads into a solo. Is this effects like a whammy, or technique? Also bridge setting tips...cost for pros to set it. Can I set it to eliminate buzz and better sustain notes myself?? I know its a lot of questions, but if anyone can help me with any bit of this I would be eternally grateful. Thanks, Ben <>< Answer: Originally Posted by phisherdude Also bridge setting tips...cost for pros to set it. Can I set it to eliminate buzz and better sustain notes myself?? Yes, you can, as long as the frets aren't actually uneven. http://jg7.tripod.com/setup.htm Answer: I would rather use individual pedals than a multi-fx. you've got an awesome guitar, so maybe upgrade your amp and go from there. Answer: His amp is fine. Nice amp you got there. Answer: neck pickup tone knob rolled down gain for a "tube screamer" setting in your multi-fx box should be set fairly low and you can mess around with the eq on your amp Answer: is that the deluxe 90 or the deluxe reverb? Answer: I'd probably put the wah first before the multi, but if you like the sound of the wah second, then that's fine. Certainly nothing wrong with that. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
