Marshall footswitch
Question: Hey all. The other guitarist in my band uses an AVT50, but his footswitch doesn't work. I hear this is a common problem for the AVT50. Does anyone know of a reliable and compatible substitite? Answer: I guess I would just find a wiring schematic for the footswitch, buy some heavy-duty components, and build one in my basement that could stand up to a beating. Nate Answer: what does the footswitch have? i'm guessing it hooks up with a sterio 1/4" cable, like most footswitches? one could probably be rigged up... couple switches, a project box, and a cable from radio shack would probably work, but not look near as cool, and would probably not be worth the extra couple bucks you save in return for the extra mess of making one. i've though about rigging one up for my vox, but decided to buy one for around $30... which i still havn't done yet... thanks for the reminder to do that... if your asking what other footswitches would be compatable that amp, i'm not sure. you'd have to experiment with the amp to see how it works, and then wire one to your needs, if you built one. i'm not sure if they all work the same or not, and if so, which ones they are (i would guess they would be interchangable between most amps, but you'd have to try them out) someone might have a better idea on this than me. just a couple ideas.... Answer: I had an AVT50 (YUCK!) I thought it was my first *real* amp... haha. Anyways. Yea, my foot switch stopped working too. They seem to be really cheaply made. Just have an electronics buddy make you one. Oh, and don't store it by rolling it up, that will be the end of it quickly. Case Answer: Yeah that's what he does. I'm pretty sure the switch is just one button and a stereo 1/4" jack. It's nothing fancy at all. Answer: if it is 1 button, it should be able to use a mono cable (one input, one ground). if it is 2 buttons, it should have a sterio cable (two inputs, one ground). i might be wrong though... it might be able to be a 1 button with a sterio cable... it could be possible, i suppose, to do a mono cable with 2 buttons, but that would have a lot more work to do it, and the amp would have to be configured specially for that. either find someone to build one, or check around and see if you can find a sub from another amp. you could take your chances on ebay, if you get one cheap enough, and find out if it works.
