Peavey Studio Pro 112

Question:
I’m getting a Peavey Studio Pro 112 to go with my new guitar for Christmas. I decided to go for best tone instead of brand name because I'm smart like that . In fact the other amps I tried just didn't fit my playing style. I’m extremely excited about this and it sounds like butter. It’s very versatile and allows me to play a number styles of music. It’s a solid state 65w transtube. I like this feature because it allows me to practice at home and have the sounds of a tube amp without breaking windows. Plus it fit the budget, or I most likely would have went all tube. You can get specs here. I also know I will enjoy playing this amp through our Church's PA system. So there you have it. A full review will be in the works Christmas night .
Answer:
that's a pretty good amp, my dad (who plays at church) has the 112, it does have a very nice sound and Peavey is a name brand...whatcha talkin' about?! And Peavey is also very road-worthy equipment (it won't give out easily and for repairs just find the peavey dealer in your area...no shipping it!) the only thing is my dad really wishes now that he had got the 212.
Answer:
Cool. Yeah Peavey is a name brand but they have had a bad rap in the past and are rebuilding themselves (or so I'm told..I'm a guitar guy... not an amp guy persay).
Answer:
Cool. I'd have gone all-tube, but if it fits you, thats great! Congrats on both amp AND Gibson Les Paul. I envy you eternally. (Or at least until I get my own Gibson...)
Answer:
We all know you would have gone with a tube amp, Matt.
Congrats on the new amp!

Peavey makes awesome boards, speakers & subs, and amps...
they do not, however, make good bass guitars, i've never personally played their electric guitars but i've heard they're pretty cheapy, and their keyboards leave a lot to be desired as far as live performance (in the studio they're pretty decent)
so their rep. as far as instruments isn't good...
Answer:
good luck with the amp
Answer:
wouldn't be my first choice for an amp modeller... probably second though. i've heard some pretty good tones from the transtube series.
sure beats line6 stuff...

Have to disagree with this, sorry.
Peavey, like every other MI company, has had it's share of great instruments as well as it's share of bad ones.
Don't think they're making good basses? Play a Cirrus bass. Even their new "low end" Millennium series basses are amazing. In the past, they've had the TL series basses (super instruments, neck through, kahler hardware, etc. the Tim Landers signature bass), the B-Quad (quadraphonic output, piezo bridge, nylon bass strings, etc. Brian Bromberg's signature instrument), the Palladium (Jeff Berlin's sig. bass)...along with the MIDI/Cyber basses (wired fret Bass-MIDI controllers).
They've made some great guitars also. The Wolfgangs, while not my thing, are very nice instruments. From their past, check out the T-series instruments (T-60, 40, etc. Super heavey, but quality all around), the Odyssey (very cool Les Paul-ish thing...kinda like the PRS singlecut, except 15 or so years earlier)...and if you need/want a "metal" guitar, they made a bunch of cool ones, usually with very good hardware (again, lots of kahler bridges usually), thin necks, and decent electronics.
They were among the first (if not the first) MI companies using CNC machines to mass manufacture guitars (the T-60).
And they just seem to be really nice people. I really recomend that anyone within a decent driving distance go down to Meridian.

Played it today. It sounded ok. It should do you fine with your gibby LP until you can afford better. he's right, it is versatile, but there's no switching on the fly as far as I could tell.

I also must disagree. I got a Peavey bass guitar (Grind 5), and it's great. It's the best playing guitar I've played in the range I got it for (though, I got it pretty darn cheap... ), and it's far from a cheapy bass. Plus it looks pretty nice...
