marshall valvestate series
Question: hello, i just got a marshall valvestate 15, a used piece, sine my amp smoked out on me (6 months ago , money is super tight, specially when im 15) its a hybrid type of amp, it has one tube in it in the preamp. the thing looks like its been gigged a billion times, but he says it still works good. he also replaced the stock speakers with an eminence 10". does anybody have any experience with this amp? i checked out harmony central already. thanks. happy thanksgiving.... Answer: I have a valvestate. It's a good amp. Good tone. I think that the drive channel can't get you a vey good fenderesque overdrive, but it does well for heavier styles. They're really expensive new though, like the new AVT's. Answer: I have the VS102r (the 100 watt 2x12 combo with reverb) and the matching 4x12 cab. I Like the sound but have never loved it. Go on www.guitargeek.com and find the 209348932 posts on how much everyone hates it. I have begun to hate mine and am saving for a tube amp (maybe the dickson fortress?) and a nice 4x12 (www.avatarspeakers.com)... The valvestate is a good beginner/mid amp, I outgrew mine quickly however.. *anathema* Answer: True. It does tend to be a sound you grow out of. I bought a single 12" cab from them and absolutely love it. Give earcandycabs.com a look. Answer: If you have the money it might be better getting a 1x 12 extension cab for it as it'll sound much better out of a 12" speaker Answer: i have the old series, not the avt. my amp is a '98 i think. anyways, yea, if i get enough money this christmas, ill buy the line 6 flextone 112" extension cab. Yeah. My amp is like a '97, I think. Does it wire up to an extension cab? Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Yeah. My amp is like a '97, I think. A *line* out is different then a *speaker* out. The line out will produce a small signal for going to a mixing board, but not near enough power to drive a cab. You'll need to disconnect the original speaker, then wire it to a jack for the extension cab. Answer: ahh dangit.... yea ill just rewire it a jack then to the cab. i might drill a hole through the back panel to put it in. will a normal 1/4 jack do? ive never tried messing with an amp except installing a new speaker. A normal 1/4" jack is exactly what you should use. It should be simple if you know how to wire up jacks properly (not rocket science ) Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
