CROWN MACROTECH PROBLEMS (FRUSTRATING!)
Question: I USE 2 CROWN 2402 MACROTECH AMPS FOR A BAND SET UP. THEY POWER 2 JBL SR4719X SUBS (THE DUAL 18's) IN BRIDGE MONO MODE. IF I GIVE THE SUBS TOO MUCH VOLUME THE AMPS BEGIN TO DISTORT. SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT CROWN REQUIERS A GOOD LIGHT SOURCE OR ELSE THEY DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO PLUG THEM INTO A 220 V SOURCE. USUALLY IN THE CLUBS I USE THE SYSTEM IN THERE IS ONLY NORMAL 110V PLUGS. THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I HAVE A REALLY GOOD SET UP AND CAN'T USE IT PROPERLY. ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHY IT MIGHT DISTORT OR WHAT I SHOULD DO. SOMEONE ELSE ALSO SUGGESTED A VOLTAGE CONVERTER FOR THE AMPS BUT I AM NOT SURE WHERE TO GET ONE OR IF THIS WOULD HELP. EMAIL ME: antonio_leon_82@hotmail.com thanks for any help Answer: I have no clue what's up (seems like they should be working, though I've always read that the macro's like 220v also)...and I know there won't be very many here that will be able to help you. I recomend either Harmony-Central's Live Sound forum, or www.prosoundweb.com's L.A.B. (live audio board). Lots of knowledgeable people there. Answer: if it's built for a 220V source then a 110V source won't work properly (insufficient voltage)...you'll probably have to get a 110v to 220v converter...check your local electronics store. The Macrotechs will work off either. They'll switch to which ever is being used. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
