Drums, percussion, Tboz? Anybody?
Question: I've got a new song I'm working on. It has a very different feel than anything I have ever done. It's meant to be a sort-of goodbye song to my life in Arlington, TX. *(moving story below)* It has a very mellow feel...kind of a surf sound too. I don't know if straight up drums or percussion would be better. If anybody wants to play with it, go for it. I'll include a version with and a version without the click track. WARNING...ITS PRETTY LONG The song is kind of naked right now. Only acoustic and 2 electric tracks (but it sounds good for that). I do have a melody and some words I'm working on, but they are not finished yet. Jon, Wanna add bass? I can do it, but I'm not that good at it. I'll probably add some sort of keys too...either straight up organ or some rhodes. *Moving story* Sorry, I didn't want to bore anybody with the story if they don't want to listen. First things first! As many of you may know, I'm moving June 2nd to Marshall TX, where I will be studying Religion (Pastoral Studies). My wife and I have been in the same town and same church most of our lives (all of her life). To put it bluntly, we are ready to get the heck out of Dodge (or Arlington). In the DFW area, it takes about 30 minutes to drive 10 miles. I'm ready to go. I'm ready for something new. Our church is a (now) very small church, and we do EVERYTHING...I lead youth boys, she leads childrens stuff on wed nights, I led worship for about 2 years (like the leader guy), I am now in the praise band (as electric guitarist), I was the janitor for a year, I've coached 3 or 4 Upwards Soccer seasons... We feel called to something big. Either just pastoring a church, or starting one. We have wanted to leave our church since we were both in HS (a few years before we were married). The time is coming for us to leave, but it doesn't seem to get here soon enough, I'm afraid. BUT, this is our home and it will be sad to leave, despite my disparity (huh?)...so we have the song. Here is the not click verson Answer: And here is the click version Answer: Heh, I saw the "Jon, Wanna add bass?" before anything else. Sure, I'll work up something nice for ya. I might mess around with some percussion stuff (not set) as well. Answer: Well, I've determined that a bass part might be much easier to come up with after a drum part... what's the form used in this tune? When do you think you want the bass or drums to come in? Answer: I'm not sure really. Possibly the chorus..which is really the second progression, but I'm really open to anything. Answer: I gotta get Jon's song done first here. Then I may give it a shot. Birthday weekend for me so others have plans for me. BTW: If you dont plan on redoing the song after I add the drum part. You better send me a WAV of the song and click. If I play to the MP3, my track won't synch up to your project track. MP3's have little issues like that. Tommy Answer: If you need me to send my track in WAV, let me know, Tommy.
