Question:
I was wonderin if what kind of guitar effects what amp you should get or what? Cuz im not sure i just got my guitar its a Schectar 006 Deluxe i like it alot but the amp i have right now just doesnt sound right(Crate Gx-10) I was wonderin if ne1 could point me in the right direction for a right amp for me i am going to lead worship eventually for now maybe something to jam out in my room with i like rock pillar 12 stones tfk stuff like that.
Answer:
As far as I can remmeber Pillar plays Mesa's while Krutch plays Marshall.
You'll want a used Tube amp with good distrotion to start. Most people here swear by Peavey's for affordable tube distortion. I recommend getting a Peavey Ultra 112 (I curretnly have it) Just amazing sounds and the right amount of gian for your style (sounds almost like a mesa recto) so you'd be in the pillar arena.
I play the same stuff as you and it suits my needs.
As far as effects go, for pillar you'll need a delay pedal...maybe a ebay bought boss dd3 would work good?
hope this helps.
take care.

many people will tell you to get a tube amp... they are a bit more pricey, but, in my opinion, very much worth the extra cost.
if a guitar amp isn't a tube amp, it is SS(solid state). it uses transistors to amplify the guitar signal, and does so very accurately. solid state technology has many good uses - such as a home sound system, sterio, etc where accurate sound reproduction is needed. but for guitar amplification many people say that SS sounds sterile and harsh...
this is where tube amps come in. tubes are the old way of amplification and are known to color the tone somewhat; they tend to add warmth and fullness to the tone. also, here is where distortion originated. when tubes are pushed beyond what they can handle, they start to distort the signal.
many solid state amps have a distortion channel as well, but again, SS is usually a colder, and harsher distortion, while tubes are a warmer and fuller distortion.
also, modelling amps are comming allong that are doing a decent job of emultating tube distortion. some are part tube, part SS. some are part digital, part SS. some are part digital, part SS, and part tube. the technology is getting much better, but may be a bit lacking still.
in the end, almost every 'non-tube' amp attempts to emulate what the tube amp already does. in general, i wouldn't recommend a plain SS amp. some sound OK, and some people may like them, but i don't care for them and have no desire to own one. tube amps are absolutely wonderful - incredible tone, and usually great distortion/overdrive to go with it, but they arn't always the most flexible. modelling amps offer the flexibility, but sometimes are lacking in tone. just about any amp you find will have its pros and cons, its all up to what you want, and what you can live without.
many people on this forum are all about peavey's amps... i've played one in a music store once... i wasn't overly impressed, but i didn't really have the time to experiment with it or crank it very loud
myself, i prefer vox's amp modelling line (valvetronix) because of their afforablility, flexablitity, and great sound. it may not be exactly like a tube amp, but for $240(ad30vt) and 11 different amp models that sound great and feel like tube amps(to me), its fine for me.
i hope i didn't swamp you with information, but wanted to give you a rundown of the basics of buying a guitar amp. there are a lot of options, and i just don't like seeing new guitar players buying an amp that won't last them and one that they later regret that they bought. a very useful resource that i have found is harmony-central's user reviews http://www.harmony-central.com/User_Reviews/ there is a lot of great stuff there... and you can get a good idea of what your are buying before you purchase it. also great to compare 2 or more items... its definitly been valuable to me... i hope you can get the same use to it.
just make sure you take your time, do your research, and ask questions.
Answer:
i'll second the valvetronix idea
Answer:
For the modeling crap... I mean stuff... (...kidding...)
I've heard great things about the Valvetronix (cant personally vouch for it), and I've personally heard and approve of the Roland Cubes. Great amps, those cubes are.
As far as the tubes, Peavey Ultra or Triumph or Bravo or XXX, or the Carvin amps, like the MTS (sp?) or Legacy, or maybe if you're lucky, you can find a Rivera R series at a nice price.
Answer:
get a multi effects pedal. It's the most helpful thing that you can get for your sound, other than the guitar amp. And they are usually much cheaper than each stompbox.I would recomend the berhinger x v-amp. It's only 70 dollars, less than the dd-3 and it has delay and tons of other effects. And it's the only one under $100 that isn't crap. There's my opinion for ya.
