Distortion question
Question: I have this problem when I play hammer ons on the 2nd fret while in drop D tuning. Also, I use the Vox fawn amp (the one that comes with the free upgrade) on my Podxtl with the drive opened wide and also using a wah pedal on it. The result is like the volume drops and then comes back up. It only does it when you do hammer ons or pick the string real hard with the wah, without it it works fine. Anyways, I can't figure out what's the matter with it so help is appriciated. Answer: Is there any way you could post a clip? Answer: Yeah I'll post one when I get it recorded. I tried adding a compressor and it didn't help, it's almost like there's not enough power for the low notes because it doesn't do it when I play hammer ons on a higher fret. Answer: Make sure your noise gate isn't set too high. You might try turning it off and see what happens. Answer: Originally Posted by presbystrat Make sure your noise gate isn't set too high. But, turn it down instead of off, you want to filter out some noise. Answer: Here's a clip of it. Any suggestions? Answer: just from listening to the clip it almost sounds like digital glitching. Answer: Hmmmm... Internal Clipping maybe? Does the Pod have a clip indicator, if so is it indicating clippage? Answer: Not that I know of. Answer: Originally Posted by ccmdude Not that I know of. I'd turn the gain down some. Answer: try some analog stomp boxes...they are the better choice Answer: ^ The "better choice" depends on the player. Anyway, I have no idea what's up with your amp there, but there is quite a bit of gain, it sounds like. You could try dropping your gain a bit. It's a strange issue though, I've never heard mine do that. There is a clipping indicator on the PODxt. the display will say "clip" in the upper-right corner. Answer: I'll have to watch for it and see if that's happening, it's wierd though. Answer: True the "better choice" depends on the musician. But analog pedals are easier to mess with and get a better sound. You may have a packed board, but in the long run it is worth it. I now have a processor, because my pedal board got quite large and was beaten up traveling, but I use stompboxes alot in studio. They are a good idea to try, and they are better than digital. Ask Head or Munkey from Korn...they use all stompboxes because they know they are better, and I think those guys are the experts in guitar effects Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
