Computer burnout? Mixer to comp question

Question:
Okay so I got a Berhinger UB802 mixer today from ebay. It's in great working order.
My question is this. I have a soundblaster live soundcard and I'm planning on using a Y cable to take the tape output of the mixer into the input of the mic plug for the souncard. Now is there any chance that this setup may overheat or blow a fuse in my comp?
It's not a powered mixer and I hear that the tape out is less voltage than the main output of the mixer.
What are the risks of blowing a fuse in the comp?
Much appreciated!
take care.
Answer:
Realistically speaking, your mixer doesn't have an out that could possibly blow a fuse (unless you decided to patch the main power into the tape out... ha!). The tape out is designed to have a line level which is good for tape recorders, and thus good for computers. Though, I suggest you plug into a line in rather than a mic in if possible.
Answer:
Yeah, just plug it into a line in and you'll be fine. I did this for a couple years when I first started.
Answer:
Silly question.
Where/what does the "line in" on a soundblaster live soundcard look like?
I have 5 connections, a black one, a pink one (mic) a green one (speakers) and a blue one and a yellow one (digitial out) which one should I plug the tape out into?
Thanks.
Answer:
It's the blue one. If you look at it closely, you'll see a picture next to it that shows the signal going in. I have the same card that I stripped from a computer sitting right here on my desk.

Thanks!
What's the best way to connect my computer speakers into the board? I'm hoping to be able to get the singnal from my comps soundcard into the board so I can use the headphones to listen to music but also have the sound come out of the speakers and hopefuly also be able to mute either the speakers and have only the phones or only the speakers not the phones.
Seriously I really appreciate this.
Answer:
Question about the line in.
clearly it's an input and works becuase I can hear myself through speakers/phones when I speak into my mic but when I try to record with it the mic doens't pick up when I use the recording programs like Sony AcidPro or Cakewalk Gutiartracks 2.
I know the mic input is like a default and it'll pick up my mic comming through it when I want to reconrd but if I have my mixer in the line in input how can I get it to pick up my mic to record?
Once again thanks!
Answer:
Go to the Windows recording control, and select the line in. Should be part of the volume mixer (unless you're on Vista, where I haven't yet figured out how to do this).
