Depth issues....
Question: I tend to use a Small Plate setting for my EFX on a Mackie CFX 20 Mixer. Does anyone know what the depth of the effects should be for this particular effect? Answer: Depends on the situation/room and how strong the effect is in the first place. Answer: Sunday I will get a picture of the sanctuary so I can help y'all judge it... Answer: Well, I don't even know if that would help. You'd really just have to experiment with it while actually standing in the room, and with the instruments that generally play. As a general guide, though, I'd keep any effects light. Answer: Are you talking about this for the whole mix or just for some certain instruments? If your sanctuary has a lot of natural acoustics I wouldn't use any for the entire mix. I might use a touch of reverb for a miced acoustic guitar and maybe for vocals. I don't think there is an exact recipe or anything; you just have to experiment a little.
