Help me quickly!

Question:
Hi, I need to know this fairly urgently.
I'm looking for the CHEAPEST USB/Firewire audio interface with 6 or more XLR inputs. It could be a mixer, a normal interface, anything with 6+ XLR/Mic inputs and USB/Firewire connectivity for individual track editing on the computer.
I know about the PV10USB from Peavey, the cheapest I've found it is $299. It would be perfect because its also a mixer and allows for physical control of the tracks volumes and such. If you can find that one any cheaper that would be fantastic.
You guys know where to find the stuff, thats why I have come to you.
Thanks!
[Edit: Perhaps someone out there makes something like the FirePod but cheaper, maybe in USB instead of firewire?]
Answer:
do you need it to be one piece? Would a 6/8 channel mixer and a separate USB interface do the trick?
like would these two items combined do the trick?

Thanks for the reply...but I posted too quickly. Mods can delete this thread, please. I no longer need to know about the interface.
Answer:
you do know that as the thread creator you can close your own thread, right?
Answer:
For individual tracks, most USB mixers won't do it, they give you the stereo mix over USB. They also usually don't offer you any control after you've recorded your tracks (so they won't act as a control surface or anything, they just send individual tracks in, and a stereo mix out).
Alesis Multimix 8, 12, or 16 Firewire

You might be able to get a used Firepod for $350 or so. The Firebox has four mic/line ins. Maybe a used MOTU 828 Mk. I?
You don't see very many multichannel interfaces that use USB any more, most USB interfaces seem limited to about 10 channels in/out simultaneously.
Answer:
You can get a used 828 MKI on ebay for 100- 250. 828 mkII for 400.
Most USB 1.1 interface are restricted to 2-4 inputs. USB 2.0 can go around the same speed as Firewire400.
Answer:
I found out that I dont need the 6 XLR, so the 4 will be fine.
I'm going for the Alesis MultiMix 8USB. That one will separate out all the tracks on the computer right?

Some of the reviews say it only sends out the main left and right. I think the Multimix FireWire does all tracks separate, though.
Answer:
So i guess the NEW question is, what is the cheapest interface with 6 inputs (4 XLR) that will separate all the tracks?

New or used? You can get some nice gear used for far cheaper.

The last one has been discontinued though and many people report having issues with installing it (though this was with an older version of the drivers). I'm gonna give it a try soon, so I can let you know how it goes. The price has been dropped by a ton though (used to be around 1000).
Used for around the same prices, you can get a Motu 828 mkII, Mackie Onyx 400f, or a Firepod.
Also, you could go with a PCI card if you're using a regular PC.

I'm using a MacBook. Im looking for something less than $299 new. There are a few MultiMix 8's going for $279 (w/shipping) but i'm hoping for something around the $200-$220 range or so [used].
I'm just looking for a way to get all my tracks into the computer separately, 6 at the most at one time (for drums) and I need at least one preamp for when we track vocals with a condensor.
Maybe thats vague enough to get something that'll work.
Answer:
For 200-220 new with 6 simultaneous inputs, your choices are VERY limited (read: I don't know of any).
Answer:
200-220 USED, not new.
Answer:
On the Alesis iO|14, there are 4 Mic/line inputs. Does that mean its mic AND line or just one or the other? Like, could I plug in something in the mic and something in the line at the same time and have it capture them both?
