fixing an amp
Question: i literally just found this Fender Bronco PR258 amp lying around somewhere. its pretty cool looking, no pics yet though. theres a slight buzzing sound when you turn it on. just one problem: when i plug my guitar into it, the buzzing gets a little louder and no sound comes out. ive tried it with all the knobs on 10 too. not fun. also the jack where you plug the guitar cable into is loose. so does anyone know where to start fixing this thing? Answer: you could start with tightening up that jack. Also, does your guitar and cable work fine in other amps? I think the Bronco PR258 is the SS Tweed covered practice amp. This being the case, a host of things could be wrong. I'd start with making sure the solder joints on that jack are solid though. I'd be willing to bet that the input jack has broken the solder joints where its soldered in to the PC board. I think that is probably the single most common amp failure (and preventable for the most part, too) you'd need to take it apart to get to the bottom of the PC board and re-solder it.
