Acoustic Corp amp
Question: Just bought this amp. I'm thinking of using it as a jazz/bass amp. Feedback! Answer: wow...it comes with the footswitch...that's fairly rare right there. At that price it's great though. i'd be a bit wary of using it as a bass amp...it might work fine at low volumes, but i don't think it'll keep up at higher volumes. Of course if you hooked it up to a proper cabinet it'd probably be fine. here's a couple Acoustic resources I use...http://acoustic.homeunix.net/twiki/b...oustic/WebHome and http://acoustic360.homeunix.net/index2.html the second link has a message board that can be VERY resourceful when it comes to Acoustic Control amps. The people on there really know their stuff. You will probably find the message board to be your best resource as the "brown tolex" series of Acoustic Control amps is not welll documented on either of those sites. You'll find a picture of the 127 on the second site I listed, but that's all the information I could find. I believe the 127 you're getting is from the early 1980s. It'll probably work great for jazz, but I wouldn't underestimate it's other uses as well. This amp (I think) actually came from the era when Acoustic came out with a tube amp and was subsequently sued by Mesa as it was apparently too similar in design to the Mark series that Mesa was selling at the time. Granted yours is an SS amp so I can't really comment on what to expect there. but seriously. I'd take the time to register and ask questions on the Acoustic Control message board. I've asked a couple questions on there and also just observed a lot and the users there are very knowledgeable on Acoustic products. oh...and I'd like to add...Congrats on becoming an Acoustic owner. I hope that yours will bring you as much satisfaction as mine have over the years. Answer: Cheers Steve. I appreciate the post. I was a touch concerned that I've never heard of the brand apart from yourself and its a spontaneous buy really. I'll put some pictures up when I get it and clean it up a touch. Answer: Looks nice! But I must say that one of these days, I will have a Roland JC120. Answer: I thought that I would get one of these guys since the JC120 is about the same size, but I can't really stand chorus and it was cheaper. Can you update the amp list with it please? Answer: i will update it right now. Answer: Congratz!! I'm looking at getting an Acoustic 150 sometime soon... Answer: Looks very nice. I have heard of these. When playing clean, I can't really tell the difference between a tube amp and a good SS amp. Seems like a good price at $195 USD. I had no idea the USD/British Pound exchange rate was so high. Answer: It doesn't necessarily reflect the real price of gear here compared to over there. I wish that I could pick up an American strat for under £500, but new, no way. No here. Nevermind. There are obviously some bargains that are to be had. Answer: Originally Posted by presbystrat Looks very nice. I have heard of these. Really, power tubes operate very hi-fi and, well, solid state like when completely clean. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
