fish n' chips mod
Question: well, i was lookin at reviews for the F n' C, and the only thing that had anyone complaining was the cheap plasic casing. so i thought, "is it possible to rip its guts out and mount it in a nice, custom metal case with a better switch?" that would rock. has anyone ever thought of this? Answer: It's definitely possible, but it might be a real pain. The plastic casing probably won't be a problem, unless you really stomp hard on your pedals. Answer: I think it would be a challenge due to the sliders. What you could do if its mounted on a pedal board, is put some blocks of wood on each side of it, tall enough to protect the pedal, but short enough to where yer foot can still activate the switch. You could also just run a cable out of it for a remote switch that you could put in a metal box, and just leave the pedal itself somewhere protected. It only takes a gentle touch to switch it, its not like you have to really press down hard. I've had a couple for quite a while now, never broke one....yet... Answer: I currently own two PB&J delays and a Tuna Melt Trem and used to own several other Dano minis. I really have no idea how people break them unless they're jumping up and down on them. Answer: I've seen a few Dano minis that people have rehoused, and it's possible, but from talking with them its usually seems to be a lot of trouble. The size of the surface mount components and traces makes them difficult to work on (compared to a boss pedal or something), you'd need to short the switch to be always on and then true bypass it, and also come up with an enclosure. Answer: Why worry about the case now? I would worry about it only if it broke. But, treat your gear right and it will treat you right. Plus, with this one, it will likely be on all the time. Answer: yeah I havnt had a problem with fish n chips. I always leave it on so I dont really have to worry bout stepping on it; and its really quite strong for being plastic. Answer: well, i wasnt' too worrid about the casing, it was the switch that bothered me. it looked a little flimsey.... Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
