Looking for an amp. (crazychu)

Question:
***what other kind of amps are there that aren't combos, i.e. tube..?..? (i will edit thread title)
Okay new thread! I'm torn between a combo amp /w board and a tube amp or (non combo) amp /w many effect pedals. I remember for a retreat i used a friend's set up that used multiple effect pedals and dude it was so easy and nice to use. anyway.
which amp has a great clean tone and can hold the stress of a bunch of pedals hooked on a pedal board?
i've checked some voxs ac30s, those are beautiful. but i want to explore my options with your insights. BUT I THINK I WONT GET THOSE FOR AWHILE
So right now, I'm only looking at the amp right now. Easy to use, great tone thats compatiable with a lot of individual effect pedals stressing it, and low maintenance
***sorry not amp heads, but amps like I dont know, my guitar knowledge sucks, just a cheap amp thats good i guess... sorry rainer.****
Price range about..400$

Answer:
I think we're mixing up terminology here:
Amp types by enclosure:
A combo amp is a speaker and amplifier in one enclosure. (examples: Vox AC30 [tube], Crate Palomino 15 [tube], Line 6 Spider II 112 [digital], Marshall MG30 [solid state], etc.)
An amp head is an amplifier without speakers. You hook it up to speakers to get sound. (examples: Marshall JCM800 [tube], Fender FM100 (solid state), Line 6 Vetta [digital], etc.)
Amp types by method of amplification:
A digital amp is an amp which uses digital programming and modeling to create sound. (examples: Line 6 Flextone [combo], Vox AD120 head [head], etc.)
A tube amp is an amp which uses analog vacuum tubes to amplify sound. (examples: Marshall JCM800 [head], Vox AC30 [combo], Fender Twin Reverb [combo], etc.)
A solid state amp is an amp which uses analog transistors to amplify sound. (examples: Crate GFX150 [combo], Roland JC120 [combo], Marshall MG100 [head], etc.)
So do you want reccomendations for non-combo amps (i.e. amp heads, cabinets, and stacks), or for tube amps (i.e. all amps with tubes, whether combos or heads)?
Answer:
You really need to read this thread here about things that are really helpful to tell us when you're asking us for our opinions on amps:
/forum...d.php?t=137148
then read this about how to go about buying an amp:
/forum...d.php?t=111871
Basically there are only three "types" (circuits aside) of guitar amp on the market...
1) the combo amp - this is both the amplifier and the speaker in one cabinet
2) the stacked amp - this is a amplifier "head" and a separate speaker cabinet
3) Lastly, there's the rackmount amp/cabinet setup - this consists of a pre-amp, a power amp, and a speaker cabinet.

i saw this it seems like a greeeaatt buy but im afraid it compromises its natural clean tone for different mods. im just looking for a good 'non combo' amp i can use with a bunch of multiple effect pedals. after, ill narrow down suggestions and then try them out at my local GC, sorry but price plays a big part in this

THANK YOU!!
can you please tell me what a solid state amp is and what a "hybrid" amp is?
do digital amps lack in tone compared to tube or solid state amps (hybrid)?
okay i'm not done yet, but so far i have in mind a "combo" amp. not sure about digital and tube and whablahblah yet for now, pending on definitions

Hybrid amps cross solid state and tube. In other words, they use both tubes and trasistors. Usually this is tubes in the preamp section and a solid state power section. However, sometimes they have solid state preamps and tube power sections.

That's too general to say. As with any amp, there are good amps and there are bad amps. It really depends on your circumstances which will be best for you.
You have to ask if a specific amp is good or not, because there are great choices and poor choices for each category of amp. (digital vs tube vs solid state is a lot like asking sedan vs truck vs suv, they don't often compare well).

All the definitions you should need are in my post.
Answer:
i love you rainer. what amp do you use? whats ur setup?
i guess im definently looking for a combo amp. and it doesn't really matter after that lol. although i would rather NOT get a digital combo modeling amp because im only searching for a regular one right now to use with separate pedals.
Answer:
I use a Yamaha T50C (American-made all-tube 1x12 combo) with a PODxt Live (digital modeler) and use my Ernie Ball VP Jr. and Morley wah pedal with my Gibson Les Paul, Squier Bullet, and Epiphone Emperor. I feel I have the best setup for what I think is important. Great tone. Super-versatile. Portable. And, of course, relatively inexpensive.
Answer:
Buy my Blues jr I am selling and then stick an overdrive pedal in front of it. That will give you a great yet simple rig for P/W like you mentioned.

i can't edit the thread title. so.
Answer:
That's why I'm around.
You don't have to make new threads, just post in this one.
Answer:
maybe..but okay
i'm looking for a COMBO~ amp with tone that isn't too expensive around $400 thats easy to use, no multi effects or models, good warm tone (for my ash strat), compatable with the stress of a lot of individual foot pedals, - looking for something around (50,75,100) watts.
i'm generally looking for specific amps i should try out, with specific brand and model names and if you can, what kind of amp it is [tube, solid].
i kept it simple this time
