I have a spider 3 75w in mind

Question:
this is a 2 part question: should i get a FBV shortobard or a POD xt live?
ALSO! should i even get a combo amp or should i get a regular amp and buy multiple effects/pod xt live?
Answer:
dude, the XT live is freakin awesome! I've never played the spider 3 though.

Answer:
Ummm...theres barely a doubt in my head that you should get the podxt live.
Answer:
Seeing how the shortboard is $269 at MF, I would go with an XTL. The spider amp would probably make a good monitor for an XTL though since I believe it has a HiFI power amp and speaker.

The main problem I see with it is that the Spider III 75 is $300 at MF...I'd just get a used XTL and buy a used power amp and speaker at that rate. Buying a Spider III when you're getting a XTL just seem very redundant to me.

+1. I've got the spider. If you're going to buy it for anything it's for the effects. You're obviously buying the XTL for the effects and the spider won't give you anything extra. There are MUCH better amps that you could play an XTL through.
I've been playing my rig through an original Spider and it sounds like butt. It sounds a lot better than the onboard effects but there's still much better you can do (especially for the price). If you're going to drop $300, Ibanez_Dude is selling a Blues Junior that would be a much better fit for the same price.

I would seriously go get a Tube Amp and then get some stompboxes. The tone out of the tube amp will hands down destroy the POD XT Live.

here's a question that should be asked but hasn't been asked...what amp are you using now crazychu?

Answer:
Let's not start the POD XTL vs tube amps argument AGAIN right now, not here.
EDIT: and oh yeh, I did almost forget about my Blues jr. Shameless plug here, buy my Blues Jr.

A SQUIER STRAT MIJ AND A 4-5 year OLD FENDER BASSMAN
WHY A BASSMAN?
----
because its the only one at church.
thats why i wana buy my own stuff.
the thing is, i THINK i might wana get individual pedals because of how simple and variable it can be (mixing effects) and stuff...so iono...

Also I just realized this is in effects...moving to amps.
Answer:
if you're leaning towards spider 3 75 watt....check out spider 2 75 watt....its a lot cheaper....
