Wow - spendy little bugger.
Answer:
They're expensive for a reason. Dumbles are quite famous for their tone. Santana still uses them a lot I believe.
Answer:
No tone in the world is worth 50K...

It might be if you were santana... But that tone had better be worth more than 50k of royalties to you in record sales.

Still.....starving children in Africa and all that....
Honestly, it's a handfull of tube based amplifier stages being fed into a 12" speaker...how good sounding can you get?
Answer:
I think its as much as hype and rarity as tone. The fact that Larry Carlton uses one, Carlos Santana uses one, Robben Ford uses one. The players players use them, and it'll probably go to someone who will either play it for the rest of their life happy as larry, or to a super rich collector. I hope the former.
Answer:
Mr. Dumble only makes amps for people he wants to make them for. That and after you spend your thousands of dollars to get it, you may have to wait as long as 6 years to get one. [/hearsay from a seemingly very knowledgable friend I had]
Answer:
That's what Wikipedia says as well. I still don't think it's worth it, but that's just me.....I like that my amps cost less than my car.

"Pay me 5 figures and you might hear back from me before one of us dies..."
He must have had his name changed from Barnum to Dumble.
