Another pedal order thread (sorry!)
Question: Ok, so i'm still playing with the order and i'm just not sure that I'm getting the best sound so I figured I'd come here for suggestions. Here's what I have, in the order I have them: Dano Fish 'n' Chips Boss CS3 (compressor) Boss NS2 (noise suppressor) Fender PT100 Tuner Rogue Volume Pedal Visual Sounds Jekyll and Hyde Crybaby Wah EH Small Clone Dano Tuna Melt Boss DD5, w/ FS5U I'm not all that sure about he first three. Where would be the best place to put those? I'm somewhat happy w/ everything else but it needs more play time to be sure. What do you guys think? How's it look? Anything jump out at you? (Oh, I'm also picking up a Dano Danecho in a few days. I'm planning on putting it between the tuna melt and the dd5. How's that sound?) -shane Answer: Originally Posted by snizzle Dano Fish 'n' Chips Boss CS3 (compressor) Boss NS2 (noise suppressor) Fender PT100 Tuner Rogue Volume Pedal Visual Sounds Jekyll and Hyde Crybaby Wah EH Small Clone Dano Tuna Melt Boss DD5, w/ FS5U If they were mine, I would probably start with them like this: Tuner Crybaby Wah Boss CS3 Compressor Jekyll and Hyde Boss NS2 (with J&H in the loop) EQ (as boost) Volume Pedal Small Clone Trem Danecho (short delays) DD5 (long delays) Answer: I would acutally put the noise suprresor or the volume pedal at the end of the chain that way when you use it it gets rid of the effects hum and your guitars hum. it will work better. Answer: Originally Posted by guitarjockey111 I would acutally put the noise suprresor or the volume pedal at the end of the chain that way when you use it it gets rid of the effects hum and your guitars hum. it will work better. Yes I agree. I would always put my volume at the end of the chain and the tuner at the beginning that way you always have a clean tone going to your tuner. As for the rest of the order I would do this Fender PT100 (Tuner) Boss CS3 (compressor) EH Small Clone (chorus) Jekyll and Hyde (overdrive) Dano Fish 'n' Chips (eq boost) Dano Tuna Melt (tremelo) Boss DD5, w/ FS5U (delay) Boss NS2 (noise suppressor) Crybaby Wah (wah) Rogue Volume Pedal (volume) Answer: Well, you should probably find out what parts of your rig are noisy first. Here's what I'd do first: Front Fender PT100 Tuner Crybaby Wah Boss CS3 (compressor) Visual Sounds Jekyll and Hyde Boss NS2 (noise suppressor) FX Loop (or if no FX loop, just after what's above) Dano Tuna Melt EH Small Clone Dano Fish 'n' Chips Rogue Volume Pedal Boss DD5, w/ FS5U I prefer volume before delay, so I can do swell effects with the delay. If he has an effects loop. If not. everything has to go in front. I would change the tuner though. Get one like the Korg DT10, it's much better than the Fender. Answer: I would definitely put the noise gate at the end, or it's kinda pointless Answer: I acutally think that noise supressor has a loop on it so he can loop all his noisy effects thru it also if he wants to. Answer: Originally Posted by ibanez_dude I would definitely put the noise gate at the end, or it's kinda pointless Not necessarily, it really depends on what pieces of gear are noisy. Having a gate too late in the chain could result in some oddness in your sound, particularly it getting cut off too early. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Put it first or put it with the overdrive. And spend some time setting it correctly so you don't loose anything with it on. How loud of a hum are you getting that you need to mute the signal at the end of your effects chain? The only thing I've had that problem with is certian gain pedals, and only then when they are set with fairly high gain or level settings. Answer: Wow. Thanks guys. Lots of feedback. I haven't had a chance to play more but I'll keep a lot of these things in mind. Should've mentioned.. No FX loop. I'm playing through a line 6 spider (as clean as possible, although i'm hoping to upgrade to a hr deville in the near future). My main problems with noise/hum are coming from the jekyll and hyde, the EQ (oddly enough) and the guitar itself. Thanks guys. Any other suggestions? If the guitar has innate hum problems, then an OD/Distortion pedal is just going to make it worse as it's going to pretty uniformly boost all signal, including noise. The EQ could do the same at specific frequencies. Answer: What Steve means is try the gate before the EQ and distortion, then try it after EQ and distortion, and see what works better. It's not really bad, but it's still a little more than i'd like since i just shelled out $80 for a noise suppressor. I'm going to have to play with the EQ some. I had it set pretty well and then I got some other pedals that alter tone and frequency so I'll have to tweak it again. Basically, I wont get a chance to play for a few days and I just wanted as much advice and ideas as possible for when I sit down to play w/ it again. Thanks guys! -shane Answer: i dont have the link but its been passed around someone want to post the link for him of how to silince the single coil strat hum. I think BBB429 did it and some others did so someone post the link for him it might him to. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
