Volume Pedal
Question: Hey there, I'm looking for a volume pedal. It'll be my first and I basically just want something to play around with. I'm thinking about getting the Rogue pedal for $20 but i figured I'd check here to see if anyone wanted to part with one first. Any takers? (Or umm....givers? umm, sellers?) -shane Answer: No one? has anyone used the rogue? -shane Answer: I would highly recommend against it. Rogue is not known for quality gear. If you have any intention of using this pedal for a while, I would highly recommend saving up some more and shelling out the $80 for a used Ernie Ball Volume pedal. I've never used a volume pedal and not really sure how much i'll use it. I seem to recall a person or two recommending the rogue as a decent volume pedal. As you can tell from my sig i'm not a rogue fan and this will be my first try in about 5 years at a rogue product. I'm really hesitant to shell out $80+ on something i'm not even sure i'll use often enough to justify the price. Is it a decent starter/practice pedal? Is there really that big of a difference between the EB and the rogue? (already, i'm realizing the stupidity of that question) -shane Answer: Originally Posted by snizzle Dang. I wanted to avoid the ernie ball, but functionally, its about the only decent option commonlt out there. If cash is tight, and you can solder, you ought to try your own hand at it. Answer: Thats true. If you have the handyman skills and the materials you need, you probably could make a solid one for less than $80. As Bill explained, the electronics of the thing really aren't anything complicated. Answer: Originally Posted by snizzle A little too complex for me. But perhaps worth looking into in the future. Have you tried it? Any luck? Its very simplistic inside. I have not made one that I thought was as good as my ernie ball, but I did use a plywood one for a while that worked fine which I made out of spare guitar parts. Answer: Pretty cool. I'll definately look into that. I'll probably wind up getting the rogue and if it completely sucks (which there's a good chance it will) i'll either hack it up for parts or just take it apart to get a better understanding of how it works. Thanks for the help guys! Merry Christmas! -shane Answer: Just another option: I have a Dunlop vol pedal I got off ebay for $20. Cleaned the pot and it's been flawless since. It's in a heavy metal case, looks just like a standard crybaby wah. Answer: Well just to let you know nows a time to get the rouge: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
