What effects?
Question: do you consider essential? I know I generally consider chorus, flanger, reverb and delay pretty essential, along with amp distortion. What all do you consider necessary? Answer: depends on what you do. like for me, i just play at home right now, so i like a variety of sounds, but i don't need everything. i like distortion (obviously), then chorus, phaser, occasionally tremolo, delay, wah, and reverb. that's one of the things i like about my multi fx processor. it's pretty decent sounding for the most part (especially the fx section), it's enabled me as someone who has only been playing the electric side of guitar for a year now, to learn to pick out the stuff that is used a lot, and the stuff that is "cool" but not really necessary. Answer: Above all, I consider my EQ essential. I despise playing without my GE-7. Next would be distortion, and I wouldn't really call my wah "essential," but I always play with it, I solo alot and it sounds awesome. Answer: Basically, for me, very little 'effects', per se. A good amp is basically all I want/need in terms of extra-guitar tone (overdrive/distortion). I will occasionally use chorus very lightly on slower songs and some slight delay for some lead stuff (both built into my amp). Other than that, I don't use anything else. Answer: It depends completely on the style of music you want to play. For some styles of music, all that's needed is a single channel, 2 knob (tone and volume) tube amp. Other styles could require 20 pedals to get the live show to sound like the CD. In general .... that is, in order to mimick most popular sounds well enough to fool the common listener... I'd say you usually need 2 or 3 distortions (including the amp), a delay, wah, and either a chorus and tremolo OR a flanger... A versatile flanger can be used to fake chorus and tremolo well enough that the uneducated listener won't notice in a live setting. Similarly, chorus and tremolo can be used to fake most flanger sounds. All 3 would of course be the best solution. Phasers are fun, but not all the common. What I would like to be completely happy with my rig would be: 3 "distortions" (I know what I want, I just don't have time to make them or enough money to buy them). An analog delay. A digital delay with tap tempo. Wah. Flanger. Volume pedal. Answer: Wah pedal. I can do without everything else, if necessary. Answer: Here's another vote for the EQ pedal being primary. Then, I'll add my Tonebone Classic overdrive. (But first start with a good amp.) Answer: for this weeks set list (and generally) the essentials are: my Boss DD-5 delay Dano Phaser VS J&H Crybaby Wah Answer: I would not play (electric) without: - compressor - delay - volume I would also greatly prefer to have: - wah - OD/Dist (for some extra kick at those special times ) Answer: OD, delay, wah in that order Answer: Delay. Reverb. Then tremolo and fuzz/overdrive. And a volume pedal. Answer: My Echo Park is always by my side, and almost always switched on to some degree. I don't think I would feel comfortable playing without it. Next up, my Seymour Duncan pickup booster. -Nick Answer: Originally Posted by ibanez_dude depends on what you do. like for me, i just play at home right now, so i like a variety of sounds, but i don't need everything. i like distortion (obviously), then chorus, phaser, occasionally tremolo, delay, wah, and reverb. that's one of the things i like about my multi fx processor. it's pretty decent sounding for the most part (especially the fx section), it's enabled me as someone who has only been playing the electric side of guitar for a year now, to learn to pick out the stuff that is used a lot, and the stuff that is "cool" but not really necessary. I use the ME-50 as well. I use overdrive, chorus, delay, occasionally phaser, tremolo and wah. I also like the rotary effect. Answer: Originally Posted by BillSPrestonEsq do you consider essential? Recently frustrated with my multi-effects pedal, I simplified for a gig with my Voodoo Lab Sparkle Box (OD) and Boss Chorus Pedal. They did everything I really needed. Answer: Heya, Distortion (amp). Compressor. Chorus. I would not need anything else but these to be satisfied. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
