Vox Dual Footswitch Schematic?
Question: I'm looking for the schematic for the Vox Dual Footswitch. It would be a fun first build, and I might save some money. Does anyone know of one, or has made one? Does anyone know of one, or has made one? I've made one... I now wish I would have just bought one, as I spend nearly the same amount of money. I'll draw up a simple schematic in a couple days (when I get back to college). Anyway, if your still interested, here's what you'll need: a project box, a stereo 1/4" jack, 2 pushbuttons (that aren't momentary... the type that click on and click off), and a stereo 1/4" cable to hook it up with. The things I listed as 'stereo' do need to be the stereo versions, or you'll only get one of our two buttons to work. Answer: Sweet! I will probably look for parts in advance and estimate the cost... If it's more than the real thing I will just buy it. If not I shall build. Thanks a ton. Answer: A generic footswitch would be cheaper and less labor intensive. A plain generic one would work. Answer: Well the real thing is only 30 bucks. I bought a generic one by "Cliffs" that was only 20 bucks at Musician's Friend. It works just fine and can be found here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/158006/ Personally, I worked at a screenprinting, sign, banner and promotional products company. I found the Vox logo in EPS format, typed out CH1/CH2 and EFFECT/BYPASS labels and cut them out on an automatic plotter in silver vinyl. Stuck 'em to my footswitch and it was better than the real thing. Answer: Sweet. Will it work with all Vox amps? I have the Valvetronix 15w. Answer: Works with any that use the VSF2 footswitch, I believe is the model number. Mine's the 30W Valvetronix model, so I would say it would work the same. I think I've got a spare set of the vinyl lettering I put on mine if you get the generic footswitch and want it. I'll take a picture of my footswitch if I think about it. It's at church and I won't see it til Sunday morning worship. Answer: Sweet! Yeah, I will look at a few more reviews for it. Is it only online or does GC sell it? Thanks, I'll look into in some more. Answer: I don't know if they have it or not. Don't have one less than 2 hours from me, so I don't go too often. Any two-button non-latching footswitch will do. Answer: I tried looking for a generic footswitch at my GC. They didn't have anything. Answer: I took the Vox back and got a Line 6 Spider. I like it better. It looks like it won't take any generic footswitch. Looks like a phone line port going into the amp. Does that mean only a Line 6 footswitch will work? Answer: Basically, yes...which is why you should've kept the Vox. heh Line 6 distortions hurt my ears with their tinny-ness. The Vox has a more realistic tube-like distortion than any other modeling amp or effect ever has to my ear. We played a gig last night with another band that had a Line 6 amp on one side and a Behringer on the other...both using built-in distortions and effects. I mixed their show for them and both of the amps were so harsh sounding it was killing my ears....and this was a VERY bassy room that made it hard to get any presence and treble in anything....but not those amps. Answer: Well, I really like the Line 6 and can get a good bass out of the DS as well. Yeah, I haven't played a Spider, but I have downloaded some recordings- most of which sounded decently accurate, but somewhat thin and nearly lifeless. Anyway, from what I understand, if you want an effects-based modeling amp, go with Line6. If you want a tone-based modeling amp, go with Vox. Thats my take anyway. Answer: It could have been the extreme power difference that changed the sounds as well. My Vox was only 15w, while my Spider is 75w. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
