AMPY.
Question: Price range- up to $200.00. Necessity- I'm using a acoustic amp that doesn't have gain. Frequency- about 2-3 hours every day. Musical Style-SKILLET! and maybe Pillar. Setup-I have a Affinity series squier strat MII,and a Honeytone acoustic amp. Experience- 3 years...i've played on Crate and Honeytone. Pesonal Research-I've heard Marshall are good. Shopping-Guitar Center,or used. Timeline-I'm saving towards it... Answer: You wont get more than a solid state marshall for 160, which are terrible in my opinion. For $30 more you could get a Vox AD15VT. The Roland Cube 20X is decent.... I dont know, I'd save a little more money if I were you and maybe find a used B-52 or higher wattage Vox. Answer: Many people hold them in regard among the highest of quality amplifiers. But "good" is all opinion. I like em. Thats why I play em. The Vox AD series are certainly good amps for the price...but I wouldn't hold them in the same vein as the amps that gave Vox their reputation. Answer: Check out used Marshall Valvestates of at least 40W (not MG or AVT). Roland Cubes and Vox AD amps are of the same ilk, and they do sound pretty good for the price. Also check out the Line 6 Spider II line. Answer: i like the Roland cubes...i found a place where you can get them for 99.99/no shipping. Answer: Are you expecting much more than a practice amp for that price? Answer: Originally Posted by Casey Are you expecting much more than a practice amp for that price? nope. Answer: I would check out the Line 6 Spider II for that price. You should be able to get it for a nice bit below the range actually, and its heavier tones are actually pretty good. It's easier to get decent sounding heavy and clean tones then overdriven stuff, and that will work in your favor here. Answer: Shoot for the 75W'er and you'll be able to hold your own in most performances that aren't too much like insane rock shows. Answer: Find a used Roland Cube 30.
