Compressor?
Question: I was editing a few of my live presets on my RP80 today and I guess I didn't notice it, but there's this compressor thingy on it. What does it do? It can go from 1 to 15. I really don't get it. I don't notice a thing when I increase or decrease of the level thing. Does it have a point? Answer: Here ya go. /forum...d.php?t=130354 Answer: I've found that basically what a compressor does is even out your volume dynamics. I use it on my voice when I'm recording because I don't have a very strong voice, and it tends to waver. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Here ya go. /forum...d.php?t=130354 Thanks. It makes sense, but I still don't notice a huge difference. The only thing I notice is a worse buzz coming from the amp. Answer: Because compressors makes soft things loud and loud things soft. Your playing louder will become softer, and low level sounds, like the buzz coming from your guitar, will get louder. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Kind of a useless effect for what I play IMO. Answer: I almost never use compression with my usual guitar playing. However, in the studio it is an indispensible effect for anything and everything.
