Has anyone checked out any Riveras?

Question:
I'm looking at a compact 25 to 40 watter like the Chubster or Clubster. I hardly see these mentioned here, but they are popular among players I know. I may want a higher end amp depending...........
Answer:
Rivera's are nice. I've never played one personally, but I hear great things about them.
Answer:
I haven't played the Chubster or Clubster.
I only know I'm in love with the Quianas and Fandangos.
But A# Music here in Kent is a dealer. Don't know if they're carrying the Chubster or Clubster at the moment.

You and me both. Yeah, that's where I've seen the Quiana. There's something about the red tolex that is class, class, class. But, it's 65 lbs. and the 45 lb. Chubster is more practical to me even though the Quiana is a better amp.
Answer:
Oh, who cares about practicality. I think I'll need to go stop by there again and drool...

Well, I thought the Quiana was on rollers, but it's not (bummer). You may drool profusely for me too!
Answer:
I'm fascinated with the Sedona - Doyle Dykes influenced its design, which has a channel for acoustic and another for electric. Sounds fantasic for both, no small feat. a bit out of my proce range, though
Answer:
A friend of mine has a Chubster. He plays a american strat and it sounds just sweet. Everything from sparkle to ultra mellow, and it grinds really well. It wasn't really abrasive when driven, but he had the master really low down, and the preamp at about 4-5 i think. I can't remember exactly, but it was a really small cafe when I last heard him play.
Answer:
I've played through my friend's Clubster and through Tommy Walker's 212 monster Rivera...both are great amps that I'd own if the $$$ were available.

Yeah I saw Doyle Dykes a week ago, and he was playing both acoustics and electrics through his Rivera. I was curious how he was able to do that, but your post solved my question. Thanks!
By that way, Doyle is an amazing player. If any of you have a chance to go see him, DO IT!

Yes, he is a master at the very least. To have companies with reputations like Taylor and Rivera associated with him has to be a testament to his abilities on the guitar. I have only been able to see him on the acoustic though and would have loved to see what he can do on the electric - no less I would bet.
And, you'll be hearing a lot about his daughter, Haley.
Answer:
Ah, it's so nice to see his name mentioned around here because I get to gloat! My guitar teacher is his nephew, and let me tell you, it runs in the family. My guitar teacher's younger brother is a drummer, this kid is Mike Portnoy Jr. 'Tis a shame I'm stuck with my drummer.
JK Ian, if you read this!
Answer:
I might also look into head since I have my cab. In my searches, the acoustic amps seem to be the most widely distributed. Doyle's gonna help sell a lot of amps.
Answer:
I've played a couple of small Rivera's in a music store before and they sounded very sweet. A friend that plays in a local band uses another nice little amp. A bit more high end than the Rivera but it sounds so sweet and is very loud. He has the Dr Z MAZ-18 JR. They run around $1600 new.

Answer:
Hmm... a bit more high end? Riveras generally go for $1500+ as well, depending on the model.
