Question:
I recently picked up a BD-2, so I'm no longer using the SD-2. If you're not familiar with it, the SD-2 is a '2-channel' distortion/overdrive (or 'crunch' & 'lead') pedal. I'd compare the 'Crunch' channel to the Boss SD-1 and the 'Lead' channel to a BD-2. You can fine tune both settings to your liking. The Boss FS-5L footswitch allows you to switch between the two.
